Guess The Release Date!

I figured this could be a fun little game. If nothing else, maybe all of our guesses will help us zero in on a realistic release date for the new consoles. I'm going to give my reasoning for why I think the consoles will be released on the specific dates. You don't have to do the same.

PS4: November 15th
I think the PS4 will set a release date for the 15th as this will give them a little under a full week before Black Friday. This gives them enough time to get out Pre-Orders and start stocking the stores with limited availability when all of the crazy Black Friday Shoppers get there. It falls on a Friday, giving people a chance to pick up their system and play with it over the weekend.

X1: November 8th
I think the X1 will set a release date for the 8th as this would give them the jump on the PS4 in Pre-Order deliveries and In-Store sales. After receiving so much criticism over some of the new policies put in place, Microsoft will want to find a way to get some love for their new console. Getting it in the hands of the gamers before Sony releases their console would be an obvious step in the right direction. Obviously, this release would also fall on a Friday.

Are consoles usually released on Friday? Why not the same week but on Tuesday?

That's really interesting BuddyHobbs. I saw the PS4 release date and shrugged it off assuming it must be across the board. But after seeing that there isn't a date for the X1, it makes me wonder.

I know the PS3 was released on a Friday. Outside of that, I'm not sure if there is a certain day of the week they're generally released on.

I'd like a saturday release or one during thanksgiving week so that I can go to Gamestop and watch everyone go crazy over it. Other than that, they day of the week doesn't affect me since I ordered from Amazon and I'm basically the last stop of the day for UPS. I'll probably get it about 10:00 pm the day it gets released.

Last I heard, Microsoft was still having huge APU yield problems, not sure if they've found a way to clear that up so Xbone might be in short supply.

I think both consoles will release after COD Ghost releases. They are gonna wanna make money on the sales of COD Ghost for current gen.

I preordered through amazon as well but I wouldn't get your hopes up that you'll get one on launch day, I have a feeling they took a ton of preorders and I'm going to assume they won't be able to cover all of them.

Yeah I'm guessing they'll end up being in short supply for a little while.

When I went in and pre-ordered my XBone this morning the GS employee told me they had 6 altogether (I was #3) and he advised me to get it at launch because they had no clue when the next shipment was coming in...

Now he could've just been trying to sell me on a pre-order, which didn't matter cause I was going to either way, but I know this guy and he usually doesn't BS me.

I'm going to guess the PS4 will release on 11/7 and Xbox One on 11/19. If the dates I found were right, both the original Xbox and the 360 released later in the month of November, so I don't think Microsoft cares about releasing close to Black Friday, and I think Sony is going all out to beat Microsoft, so they will release the PS4 earlier than the Xbox One.

I need to know the release date for the XO real soon, because I want to take vacation around that time. I won't be surprised if the PS4 releases a week or so before the XO.

Just guesses on their part so they can list them for sale since prices were announced, nothing to those dates though.
