    Franchise Breaking bug?

Although we had a crappy season; my Mariners managed to finish 71-91 after me played half of those games of course.. And now, ALL my players whose contracts I want to renew become UFA's? Like, I don't even have the option to renew their contracts because by that time they already are signed by other teams. I'm losing about a third of my roster because of this, including my rising stars in Montero, Zunino, Danny Hultzen etc.

Please someone help me quick! I read the offseason guide step by step and this still happened... Can't move on without figuring this out

You need to offer some sort of contract to all those players before(dec. 4th I believe)if they don't accept then the last day of the offseason you can renew the players.

That's kind of weird when you can't even renew contracts midseason. So there's this 2 month mysterious window and no in-game cue as to when you're in it?

Bobhead I don't understand what you mean about renewing mid season? The Show has the renewal process correct. Renewal happens for players that are not arbitration eligible. It occurs at the end of the offseason if the team and player can't agree to a deal. The angels just did it to Trout.

While I do agree that it should be clearer on offering contacts to players there is a star that states last day to offer contact to unsigned players.

But in real life you can negotiate/renew all throughout the season.

If The Show is going to force us to wait until the offseason, I think it should remind us IN the offseason.

I just think there should be a clear label/notation/whatever that says "okay this period where you couldn't address your contract issues is now over." or even "...will be over on X date"

You are confusing "contract extensions" with "contract renewals"

Contract extensions for players under contract, can be, and are negotiated during the regular season. (this is absent in The Show, unfortunately).

Contract renewals is a process where, when a player who is not yet arbitration eligible, is tendered a qualifying offer by the team holding his rights, but they cannot come to an agreement. Because the player is not arbitration eligible, nor is he eligible for free agency. Remember, MLB teams hold the rights to players for 6 seasons, 3 renewal years, and 3 arbitration years, before that player can become a free agent, as long as certain conditions are met.

In the 3 "renewal years" the club can renew the contract for another year, at any salary greater than 80% (I believe this is the correct number) of his previous salary. Contracts are renewed on the last day of the offseason.

There is a clear label. You need to view significance of the date on those starred days. You guys know what I mean. All those stars either tell us arbitration days, or last day of "so and so" time period in which you can do things with your players before they are taken away.

It would be helpful though if we received a warning email to remind us what days are coming up and what they mean. Similar to the emails we get for the Rule 4 Draft and Trade Deadline. All the contract negotiating talk is a bit confusing when you look up the date significance.

Oh. I had no idea "contract renewal" was a term specifically reserved for that. I just thought the phrase simply referred to the act of renewing a contract, regardless of age or circumstance.

So i thought this thread was just about contracts in general.

                  Myyyyyyy bad.

Plus as sydrogerdavid mentioned....there is the starred dates that if you hit on the significance option....it states what will happen if you pass that date without action.

The only one missing is.....when players do not accept a deal early in the off season.....you must give them the "forced" deal in the final week.
