M25 Slider Changes - Special Teams are in!

The exciting news from the latest sharing blog is it looks like Madden finally has user and cpu special teams sliders! A part of the Player Skill sliders are shown briefly.

Looks like they got rid of all the defensive line sliders like pass rush and block shedding. They also got rid of run reaction time. It never worked that great so not a huge loss but I hate losing sliders. We do get a true pass coverage slider which is huge since the reaction time slider didn't do much of anything last year.

I hope they add RB ability instead of break tackles. That was redundant with the tackle slider. I will love finally being able to tune the kicking sliders better! You couldn't drop the slider last year without the cpu missing too much and yet you could hit all your FGs way too easily. About time they brought those back. (Now I'm just hoping the pic means what I think it means).

Now maybe it will take less hours to make the gameplay slightly resemble real life.

I just hope fumbles on All-Madden work properly. Right now our fumble numbers are ridiculous.

Can't grasp what the difference would be in reaction time compared to pass coverage.

        Like the special teams though.

I think reaction time was supposed to be how fast the DBs reacted once the ball was thrown but it didn't really do anything last year. Some people strongly believed it was reversed and I think that was true to a degree. But there was not much difference between 0 and 100.

Pass coverage is a new slider (the way it's always been in NCAA and in Madden prior to last year) and that should be how tight the coverage is period and not just how quickly a DB reacts once the ball has been thrown.

Hopefully someday we can see the difference between a Revis and a random nickel corner and not have to rely on sliders for a universal difficulty setting for a position but that's a whole different tangent to go off on with ratings working as opposed to sliders.

Are we sure that picture really confirms separate special teams sliders for user and CPU?

Otherwise, it's the same as in the past.

I can't guarantee that means separate sliders but special teams sliders weren't even in the slider menu last year. If you look at the top it says Player Skill which are the user sliders. I'd say that it means with 99% certainty we have separate sliders. I've asked EA to confirm on Twitter but no response.

Countless hours, and I never could get the sliders close to sim. The only way to lose in CCM is to

                  1. refuse to use many features built into the game for enjoyment that are supposed to be features, like all kinds of audibles
                  2. set your accuracy for a 90 short/medium/long accuracy QB so low you end up throwing passes 15 degrees off target to the nearest defender for an interception, totally breaking any semblance of sim
                  3. avoid plays you know you could spam and win all day if you want, like stretch runs by a fast RB to the weak side of a doubles I-form.
                  4. never, ever, audible to a short pass play and then tell your X receiver to run a streak, because when you do the first audible the defense will press cover and your receiver will get a free release, allowing you to score from anywhere on the field any time at will.
                  5. put player run reaction and tackling so low that every CPU runner gets 8 yards per carry on 30 carries per game.

Sliders could not rescue game play for M13. Just could not do it. The only way to try to make a competitive game is to refuse to use the gameplay options available to you and make the CPU go robo on runs. . . because even if you make it go robo on pass it will still throw for 70%, 250, 1 TD and 1 INT on 30 attempts (all this on 14 minute quarters, 15 second runoff). Make the CPU robo pass and it will still pass infrequently, dink and dunk, and lose.

This is why it's all about gameplay and AI for me this year, if I decide to buy.

Gotcha. Thanks. I just worry it's not a final screen and just a kind of filler display for the video.

Re: M25 Slider Changes - Special Teams are in!

^ Agree. I just picked up M13 on ebay for $2.14 a few weeks ago. After hearing about all the problems and features they removed I couldn't get myself to buy it earlier.

Somehow I still don't enjoy the game even though it barely cost me anything. I wanted the challenge of taking one of the worst franchises in the game and turning them into a contender to be there but it isn't. Nothing like the challenge of taking the Bobcats on 2k and trying to make them compete.

Besides the lack of challenge the gameplay is just really bad/sloppy. I will have to rent this game or play somebody's copy before I buy it because it has a lot to prove.

In '12 you have to adjust the special teams slider and save to profile outside of franchise and like you said for '13 ,not in the slider menu, so it does look promising.

Wait, whats the point of player ratings if there are sliders? that's so contradicting..

I just noticed looking at the screen shot since they added in the special teams that they took out the reaction time and block shedding in rush defense and now there's only tackling???? but yet there's a reaction slider in the pass defense??? wonder why they took those 2 out??. also they took out pass rushing slider... and added in pass coverage ???? in pass defense.
