    EA preorder philosophy

Anyone else a little frustrated with EA's preorder philosophy of having 6 different options from 6 different retailers? Being an alum of an SEC school I went with GameStop but I wouldn't mind having the option of getting more than one ultimate team pack (I am really excited about Ultimate Team this year). Where did everyone else preorder?

I pre-ordered from Gamestop, and, since I will NEVER touch the Ultimate Team feature, i'll probably end up giving my free pack away to someone else who wants it.

you can buy the other packs. If it wasnt for them giving them away with pre orders we would have to buy all of them. I pre ordered from amazon cause its more convenient. No tax. Release day shipping free.

The retailers make those requests of publishers all the time. EA doesn't really care where you get it from, but exclusive pre order bonuses mean more favorable shelf placement and better in-store advertising.

I knew you could buy packs but I didn't know if those exact ones would be available or not. I'd do amazon also, but I have to pay tax (there is an amazon distribution center in our city) and I really have no desire for the PAC 10 pack. I guess I thought more people might be excited about ultimate team.

Preorder bonuses do not influence where I preorder a game. I always buy from Amazon. I will probably never play ultimate team but I will look at the pack just out of curiosity.

I preordered at Best Buy, and turns out they have the Big Ten Ultimate Team pack...as a Buckeye fan, it was a happy accident.

I generally deal with Best Buy, as GameStop is the bane of my existence.

The pre-order incentive is bitter sweet for me. I have ZERO interest in Ultimate Team. So on one hand, there isn't a ton of excitement for me on July 9th. On the other hand, it will allow me to sit back and get some OS reviews before making the purchase. The last few versions have been more frustration than enjoyment for me, so it is probably good that there isn't a sweet deal out there to entice me into a hasty purchase.

I agree....I wish we could have an option to choose which pre-order bonus we want if we ever choose to pre-order the game from the EA Sports website. I ore-ordered my copy from gamestop because I choose to pick-up in store as there are 2 Gamestops within a 15 min walk or a short tram ride away from my house, but I plan on trading my SEC for an ACC as I am an ACC fan

this is the most worthless preorder ever, and which is why i wont be preordering either. i'll find out if dynasty actually works before the first patch this year too

How much do you have to put down at best buy for the pre-order?

I pre-ordered the game from Best Buy as well. I probably won't play Ultimate Team that much but since I was going to buy the game on release day anyway, I figured I may as well get a little extra bonus along with it no matter how much I plan on using it.

You have to put down a minimum of $5 at Best Buy and can pay up to the retail value of $59.99, which is what I did. When you go to pick the game up you'll then have to pay the remaining balance, including tax.

That's funny Best Buy (after working there) is the absolute worst place to buy anything. I get the run-around by college kids who know less than me about something and generally screw up every aspect of my purchase.

At least at gamestop they give me their absolute attention when it is my turn. I ask about random games, accessories, release dates... they don't rush me out the door to get to the next person. My local gamestop knows what Customer Service is and that is why they have earned my business.

That being said, my Blu Ray drive is toast in my PS3 and I am holding out for a PS4 rather than repairing it (launch day PS3 yay!), so this year I am doing the EA Season Pass, then just ordering from PSN. There really needs to be more benefit to digital download than there is. Retailers getting Ultimate packs but PSN only offering the game at full price (which can never be traded or sold) is kind of a let down.
