    The rookies coming out of the CHL always suck, like why can't my 1st overall pick ever play in the NHL in his first year?

      Ratings look good. How do you transfer these players to the team who drafted them? Do you know if anyone will make an updated roster with players drafted, traded, signed, etc?

        Omega and I are currently working on one, and to get the rookies on the team you need to use a little glitch.

          Is red they will never reach their potential? Gold they might?, Green is guaranteed? Never quite understood the 3 colours.

            Red = Low Chance
            Gold = Average Chance
            Green = Good Chance

              Then there's the number of stars....so if its 5 red it pretty much means avg chance in the end..what if its like 2 green?

                The number of stars is the potential ceiling for the player. The more stars the higher his potential. The colour of the stars represents the chances of the player reaching that potential.

                  FWIW, I gave McCarron 4 gold stars with a low initial rating to reflect the fact that he's a project with a high ceiling, 4 red stars might make more sense though.

                  When thinking about potential, do the stars reflect absolute potential, as in any player with 5 green stars, no matter how sucky when they begin, will ultimately be a Hart-winning superstar? Or does it reflect relative potential where a guy with 5 green stars but a sucky rating will develop into just being not-sucky as opposed to a guy like, say, McKinnon, who's virtually a guaranteed star.

                    Re: Ratings For Rookies

                    I rated the top players in the draft a lot more highly. I know that there's no guarantees they'll all even play in the NHL, but looking back over the past 12 years, the top forward taken in the draft (allowing for years in which Fleury/E. Johnson were #1 overalls) have been impact players right out of the gate and it's only getting more consistent as scouting improves.

                    I rated Mackinnon an 80, Barkov and Drouin 78, Jones 77 (d-men develop more slowly), Monahan 75, Lindholm 75, Nurse 72, Ristolainen 75 (he's supposedly very NHL ready), Horvat 74, Nichuskin 77 (going to play in Dallas this year, probably in a top-six role, could have been a top pick if not for nationality). And so on. I don't remember the potential for every player as this is all off the top of my head, but I ask myself what would Crosby or Hall be rated in their rookie year, based off of how they performed that year. All of the guys who make their teams are going to have higher ratings by the time we're at the Olympic break. I don't waste time rating the conservatively, just because they were just drafted.
