    360 vs PS3

I had played the pre-release version of NCAA on the 360. I started a dynasty with ND and played through two games, one of those against Michigan. I know in the demo UM had gray face masks instead of navy.

When I played the pre-release the face masks were correct. Also, ND's helmets looked correct under the lights.

I purchased the PS3 version because more of my friends play on PS3. Started a ND dynasty and noticed UM's face masks are gray and ND's helmets look brown again under the lights.

Just curious if this is a PS3 thing or what. I thought the pre-release on 360 looked much better. Just curious to know if anyone especially had played on both consoles and what your experiences were.

I have a 59" samsung plasma and the jaggies and graphics were so bad on ps3 for previous versions (12,13) that I bought a 360 specifically for NCAA. It looks a lot better on 360 to me.

Other then the face masks did you notice any other issues with your ps3 copy? Like performance issues? I've got a ps3 copy sitting here that's either waiting to be opened or taken back and returned for a 360 version.

Really wanted to buy the ps3 version this year because I'm trying to move a lot of my gaming over to ps3 in preparation for getting a ps4. And also because I'm a big Michigan fan and have the Charles Woodson cover on ps1 and Desmond Howard on ps2 do figured for collection purposes it made sense to have Denard on the ps3.

      Any thoughts would be appreciated!

        Re: 360 vs PS3

I am going based on the pre-release version on 360. To me it looks much better. I am thinking of taking my PS3 copy back. The replays aren't as crisp, the face masks and ND's helmets were correct on the 360 version.

Kind of disappointed in the visuals on the PS3.
        What?

Wzup fellas. I have this eternal conflict every year lol. I posted on this subject in another thread on this topic earlier. After having spent time with both versions this year, the x360 version is the way to go. You will not be disappointed. Overall graphics are better on x36o, better controls (particularly player control), and much smoother menu navigation (custom playbook navigation, selecting plays, etc).

PS3 version has a tad clearer resolution but this comes at the cost of player jaggies. The fine detail of things are much better on x360. As you mention (helmets, face masks, grass, turf, etc.), are more clearer or defined on x360.Menu navigation on PS3 is better than last's year version, but nowhere near as smooth as the 360 version.

Have not played online so not sure on those issues. x360 is the way to go.

See and that does make the 360 version sound better but helmets and menu navigation aren't the "be all end all" with me. I am concerned with any slow down and overall smoothness of the game while I am playing.

I noticed when I played both demos that the game seemed smoother and quicker on 360 when I ran a no huddle offense. Playbook would come up quicker etc then the PS3 version. I just thought this may have been fixed in the retail release.

Thats what I am looking for answers on.

I was contemplating the 360 version but opted for the ps3. It's definitely got more jaggies during play. Kinda wish I would of went with the 360 version.

Regardless of jaggies how does the gameplay feel? Is it smooth? Or is there a lot of lag in between plays and what not?

I'm sorry I just have to comment on this.

First off, the vast majority of gamers only have one of the two consoles and thus are limited in their options. Secondly, I am a PS3 owner and will admit that while the Xbox 360 graphics seem to look better (especially on the "Photographic Side" thread) the PS3 looks just fine.

I really don't understand beating a dead horse on this topic. I've played the PS3 version of this game since '11 on multiple TVs (Samsung, Vizio, etc) of different sizes and technology and have never seen anything remotely resembling these "jaggies" that everyone is discussing and providing examples of.

My advice would be that if you are one of the people that have both consoles, buy whichever one most of your friends own so that you can play online and get used to the controller. Otherwise, it's a somewhat moot point.

Its not a moot point, the jaggies are existent and if you can't see them you are blind, lol. Its not something you noticeably see from a distance but you do see it when up close. Its not a huge issue for me but I understand it upsetting some.

To me it all comes down to the gameplay. I tried both demos and the problem I had with PS3 was that the CPU was always running no huddle and when I was on defense it never gave me enough time to actually call a play because of the lag and what not.... this issue was not apparent in the 360 version because the game loaded and played smoother.

I however WANT to keep my PS3 version (its still unopened) because of my desire to keep my Michigan covers ('99, '06, '14) all in the Playstation family... But......if the gameplay is really that laggy in the retail version that can be a dealbreaker...

Let me ask you this to clarify, are the "jaggies" only seen when you're a few inches away from the television? I ask because I play on a 55" Samsung LED (1080p, 240hz) and I sit about 10 feet away from the screen. It looks crystal clear from that vantage point.

I notice "jaggies" even on regular HD programming if I get close enough to the screen (where the edges aren't sharp on graphics [ESPN for example]). Is that what everyone is talking about?

You see them even from a few feet if you zoom out to look at your routes etc. Its just how the PS3 does the anti aliasing.

Ill concede the game looks slightly better in regard to jaggies on Xbox however the PS3 version looks clearer.

There is no lag that you speak of. None at all in my experience.

Both games are more or less the exact same. Go with what most of your fiends have.

                          Then have fun.

Well mine is noticeably jaggie and blurry. Its seems to run fine. I have noticed a couple frame-skips. But other than that it seems to run fine.

I bought the digital download off playstation store. I'm playing on a 46" Samsung 1080p LCD and I don't notice the jaggies so much as lower detail and poorer performance than the 360. What really sealed the deal for me was create highlights where the replays were all herky jerky. The more I played the more obvious it became I was playing a ported version. Going to gamestop today and getting it on 360. I'll take the $59 hit. It's college football and this game gets more playing time by me than any other by far.
