The 8 Types of TeamUp Players

As an avid Team-Up player, I have certainly seen all types of characters- both good and bad (mainly bad). I though this would be a fun thread to make. Feel free to add on with the players you've encountered online as well!

1. The BFF's

These two are clearly friends in real life. You'll discover this early on when they ONLY pass to each other and no one else. They will even throw half court heaves to inbound it to the SF/PF if that's their buddy, much to the dismay of the pg/sg patiently waiting up top. As wide open as you might be, don't expect to get the ball in this situation. Just hope they use your picks and go for rebounds to get that teammate grade up.

2. The Party

This is the rarest occurrence in team-up for me, actually coming across a legit 5-man team. You'll be able to tell it's a party because the team will seem to play with a certain fluidity and chemistry- a chemistry that doesn't occur with a random group. On offense they will bombard you with picks until somebody gets left open, and their defense will be harder to exploit.

3. The Buzzkill

Possibly the worst type of player to come across, the buzz kill will sabotage the game for every other player involved. This behavior includes intentionally fouling over and over again, full court shots, repetitive timeouts etc. Give them a quarter and usually they will leave out of boredom, but if they stay persistent it's best to quit.

4. The Hero

The typical isolation heavy, do-it-all jerk we've played with one time or another. If he's the pg good luck getting the ball, this guy is only looking to do one thing: score. This also tends to occur with whoever has kobe/lebron/KD.

5. The Paint Camper

This guy will probably draw at least one 3 second violation during the game. Typically the center or power forward, this player runs back and forth in the paint looking for the inside pass. These campers are usually harmless and if you can get them the ball it's a free assist. May also be Pickers (see 6).

6. Pickers

Usually occurs at any position that isn't point guard. Pickers run down court hold the B button down and move the control stick around, looking to run into anything they can. Does this boost their teammate grade? Yes. Is it extremely annoying? Yes.

7. The Requester

Calls for the ball NON STOP. Even as a center this teammate will constantly call for the ball with Varejao and look to bring the ball down court in hopes of running point guard. It is annoying when a computer is inbounding, because they almost always give it to the player that calls for it instead of the pg.

8.The Quitter

We've all seen them. They are in every game you play. If you get a Suns/Magic match up expect nearly every person to quit within the first few seconds. If a quitter doesn't get a star or his favorite position, you can count on him quitting. Or in extreme cases.. turning into a buzzkill.

Please feel free to continue this list! I almost forgot.. the typical player. Who scores when he should and moves the ball. Somewhat rare to see nowadays :y7:

Playing with a team of 5 right now... so rewarding. Blew out an OKC random team with the mavericks by nearly 30 points before they all quit haha
