Madden 25 is the first year of Cam Weber's 3 year plan
I was listening to the latest episode of the Sim Perspective and the TSS guys just said that Madden 25 is the first official year of development on Cam Weber's 3 year plan. Apparently the development team of Madden 13 was not completely Cam's. Does this make you feel any different about the future of Madden knowing that the "3 year plan" is just now starting? I find this interesting myself but a little confusing. I know two big additions to M25 development are Rex Dickson and Clint Oldenburg, but I'm not sure who else they had this year that wasn't there for M13. Maybe his plan is just for next gen only, We'll see how this plays out.

Haha there is a "three year plan" every three years with these guys and we continue to get the same game.
This is Cam talking about his great "three year plan" in 2011. http://www.pastapadre.com/2011/04/13...lan-for-madden |

Re: Madden 25 is the first year of Cam Weber's 3 year plan
3 year plans are written in jello. Just ask Mike Wang and the NBA Live team about that. The guys in charge at EA change quite a bit. Bad sales can impact plans very quickly as you can see with EA dumping Wii U support. In my experience with EA, 2 year plans happen far more often and then you see a big deviation. The third year never seems to happen.
All of this is moot anyways. Some people seem to buy the marketing hype more than others. The truth is in the results - NO EXCUSES! Three year plans are the king of excuse making IMO. |

Re: Madden 25 is the first year of Cam Weber's 3 year plan
The 3 year plan thing to me is a flawed approach. The way the NFL game is played it's constantly changing. We need a game with the leadership to be able to adapt with the trends in real life. Right now the Pistol and defending the pistol is the fad. A couple years ago it was the freshness of the exotic blitz and wildcat package. Madden struggles to replicate these things often

I think we'll know soon whether or not the 3 year plan is actually legit or just spin and hype. It doesn't really matter to me as long as the game improves consistently and at a much faster rate on next gen. We can't expect a complete sim game on next gen in one cycle, but in two or three we definitely should have the ultimate NFL experience. Hopefully next year's focus will be on the D and WR/DB interactions. I know Rex Dickson said WR/DB interactions is one of the top priorities on their list for improvements in the future. What Madden REALLY needs is consistent improvement in every area of the game every year. That is something that has been a complete absence on current gen. If they keep improving the gameplay, a.i., presentation, commentary, connected franchise every year, then the game will improve leaps and bounds every year. Current gen was a complete mess each year and had no real sense of direction. A consistent focus on the things that matter will do wonders for this franchise. |
Re: Madden 25 is the first year of Cam Weber's 3 year plan
The problem with these 3 year plans from EA/Tiburon is that they focus on one part of the game and leave other parts completely untouched, instead of just trying to make a better overall game. Sad part is even when they focus on something, it still doesn't work as realistic as advertised, so it just seems like wasted time.
