    Online: Poor Sportsmanship & Quitters

Lets post stories and or pics of your experience online. I think I would be interesting to see the different experiences everyone has online.

    Here's mine.

This guy (TheHORNY Horsey) has a really good online record. Something around 155 - 45 I think. He's the typical run around with a superstar and isolate guy. Kobe was unstoppable all game. But the defense finally showed up in the 2nd half and I was able to tie the game. Now there's one possession left and I let the clock run. Called for a pick and roll and DRose got loose to the rim and made a layup with 0.6 seconds left.

Now he was playing normal all game (without pausing the game after every score). Then he just paused the game. He does nothing but just sit there staring at the screen. I waited til the time is up and let the clock run for another 3 minutes to see what he would do. All he did was browse through the stats. Finally the 2nd pause timer is up and I just quit.

If anyone wants to add me, my gamertag is iRebound

Yup 12 dunks, TC has to be cheesing. How dare TC dunk the ball 12 times!

I never mentioned cheese once. I was actually moving the ball around. 12 dunks came from fastbreaks and him camping in the lane with Dwight trying to double team Boozer. I just dish it out to Noah for an easy dunk.

What's wrong with him having 12 dunks?

Re: Online: Poor Sportsmanship & Quitters

I like playing normally, man on man D, running plays, etc. But when I see someone starting to cheese me, well, I cheese right back. I switch to 1-3-1 Defense and chuck 3PT shots at them if they run around with Lebron James/Kobe Bryant doing nothing but dunks or eurosteps. It's what annoys me the most. But I pride myself in not rage quitting.

I've had a few that did. Earlier today someone did that to me in MyTeam after I accidentally ooped the ball to myself with Wesley Johnson, because what I actually wanted was to opp the other guy running beside me (we were on the fast break) and I wanted something flashy that game. Guess I did get something flashy, but he quit anyway

Not to mention that oop gave me the 2 pt lead after I came back from behind. We were playing normally up until that happened. It wasn't even a blow out. He paused the game and let the clock run. I let him have 3 more minutes but he disconnected.

Exactly. You have to expect that when playing random quick matches online. I like moving the ball around and calling different plays. That doesn't mean I can't cheese right back.

It's just not fun for me to run around with a superstar and try to score in the paint all game.

Re: Online: Poor Sportsmanship & Quitters

I play mostly MyTeam and I don't have a single Gold player in my squad. It's mostly cheap Silvers, Bronzes and a couple of Legends that I picked up from the Boosters. Whenever I see someone has Lebron and the rest of their squad is filled with scrubs, I expect cheese all game long. I give them 3 minutes to see what they do and know how to react to their situation.

Earlier today I had a great match up. The other guy (or girl) had Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard and another big name that I don't really remember what it was. But he didn't cheese and we had a neck to neck game. Only reason I lost by 10 was because my team lacked clutch and I left Lebron open a few times that I shouldn't have.

Not everyone that plays big stars cheeses with them. I have no problem facing the Heat on a quick match up, as long as the other person plays sim (or something remotely close to sim anyway). I used the Thunder a couple of times and I wasn't running around with Westbrook and Durant the whole game, because that takes the enjoyment away from the game, for me anyway.

I don't need to win to prove a point, just annoys me greatly when other people (more than we can count), don't think like that.

12 Dunks? That's nothing quite frankly. I can put up 12 dunks on a normal game playing sim. Especially if the other team leaves my big man alone underneath the basket or a pick and roll worked perfectly. Not to mention the fast breaks we can gather from a stolen ball off a bad pass or a rebound where our SG is already crossing the half court line before we even pick up the ball lol. Doesn't make you a cheeser.

I've always wondered how it feels to play an Online Sim Association with real normal teams (no draft), but was never able to.

This is what is wrong with online play and why it will never get better.

Have faith in YOUR style of play. Don't abandon it. PROVE it's the better way to play.

People COPY what they see works which is kind of what you did when you abandoned your normal game.

I never abandoned my style of play. I play normally against people that like to play normally. As long as people like to play like all of us Sim Players do, then I'm good. But it's great to get hate messages from the cheesers when I beat them at their own game.

Also, there's no point in playing Man to Man D against a guy that is going to run around with Lebron James, eurostepping all 20 minutes. Personally, I've tried more than once and it never worked out for me.

I forgot to add that yes, unfortunately I do agree that this is what is wrong with online play and for as long as 2K allows it, it will never change. They should make it harder to cheese, not easier. Eurostepping from the 3PT line or allowing Dunks not to be blocked is just ridiculous.

Again, forgot to mention something. The charge calls. They're also ridiculous. Even if I'm trying to avoid the defender planted in the middle of MY half of the court, I get drawn in like a magnet as soon as I go past him. Though I learned now to avoid that and score an easy 3 or layup due to the lack of man to man D the guys that do this do.

I'm pretty sure you said, I play the right way UNTIL I see something I don't like then I can do whatever I want.

I agree its no fun to play against that. I've seen my share.

Why not play the right way, all the time regardless of the circumstances?

If you believe you play the right way, play that way to prove you can win playing like that.

As long as everyone has the green light to play however they want when they see something they don't like, it just proves that even the people that play the right way don't believe they can win that way so I'm on the right track not playing the right way.

They'll just keep doing what they are doing because it works when no one proves otherwise.

I hate playing 2k cheesers/abusers. Whether they be 3pt cheesers, using the 1-3-1 defense, or using the spin move non-stop with superstars, such as KD, Kobe, Lebron, etc., I try to play as realistic as I can. In my opinion, the game is so much more fun when it is played legit and realistic.

Last night I was playing as the Denver Nuggets against this guy, who was playing as OKC, and all he would do was spin layup and use stepback moves with KD and Westbrook, the whole entire game. There is no problem if you use those moves every once and a while, but not every time up the court...

Although, I can't say I don't ever cheese back when the person I am playing starts off doing the things I listed above.

Sometimes it gets so frustrating playing those kind of guys, but whatever... Guess that's just life sometimes. :/

The problem is Coach, it doesn't matter how many times someone playing "The Right Way" beats them, they're going to keep on cheesing because it just works. I do give them 3 minutes, sometimes a whole quarter to see what they do. If they start to cheese, then I'm sorry, I'm going to beat them at their own game. I need wins to advance in the seeds!

I've lost seeds thanks to cheesers though, always when I didn't start to hit them up with 3PT shots to keep them at bay.

When I used to play Quick Match Up then I really didn't care and just played my game. I stopped playing Quick Match Up in favor of MyTeam though.

Oh and no, it isn't UNTIL I see something I don't like. I'm not like that. If someone happens to hit 1 eurostep shot the whole damn quarter, I'm not going to start cheesing against them. Now if someone is CONSTANTLY trying to get charges, CONSTANTLY eurostepping it up and CONSTANTLY using a Superstar and not someone else, it's time to bring the big guns. No point in using a knife in a gun fight.

                              I agree with you.

It's also ok to say I'm going to do whatever takes to win. I know that's what my team is about. You got to win to advance so there's no problem with that. Upgrade those players!

Quick match who cares, your record doesn't really matter. I had a guy Eurostep me to death the other day but in the end he probably didn't hit anymore than he would have otherwise and I know he won't stop doing it...lol.
