Week 1: Green Bay Packers @ San Francisco 49ers
A week from today and I can't wait! Let's get the discussion going.

Re: Week 1: Green Bay Packers @ San Francisco 49ers
Packers with a rookie RB going against one of the best run defenses in the league.
49ers with a rookie safety facing one of the best QBs in the league. 49ers won the last 2. Packers have great LBs so might make quick work of the read option but that would open up Davis and any RB passing schemes. 34-34 tie due to a massive officating gaff on each side and a missed Dawson FG at the end of OT. |
Re: Week 1: Green Bay Packers @ San Francisco 49ers
The Packers have been working hard all offseason no doubt to stop the read option that killed them in the playoffs. If they allow it to happen again I will lose all faith in Dom Capers and his defensive coaches.
I HOPE that situation doesn't happen, and I believe the Packers have the personal to stop it this time around. Rodgers finds a little more comfort with a slightly improved running game, and the Packers win 31-24. |
Re: Week 1: Green Bay Packers @ San Francisco 49ers
Wouldn't go as far to call the Packers LBers "great" outside of Clay.
Anyway, if the team wants to do whatever it takes to shed this "soft" label that's been attached to them since the end of last season, this is a perfect test to get rid of it. |
Re: Week 1: Green Bay Packers @ San Francisco 49ers
Well they're not Willis/Bowman/Smith/Brooks but you can do a lot worse than Clay and Hawk.

Just don't get anybody hurt. That's all I ask out of this.

Re: Week 1: Green Bay Packers @ San Francisco 49ers
I'm not really too worried about Green Bay stopping the 49ers read-option. It's just a phase of the offense anyways. Now if the Packers shut down the 49ers run game completely, then I'd probably be more worried.
