What's your top 5 most important Positions in the game?

If you had to start build a team from scratch what would you say are the most important/least important positions in the game. So mention your top 5 on offense and defense.

Personally on offense, I feel that Quarterbacks are over rated in this game. With lead passing being toned down, I can make an average Quarterback like Alex Smith out play some the elite QB's in this game. Conversely, I think the safeties are the most important position on defense because I already mentioned that lead passing has been toned down so therefore high rated safeties are able to under cut deep routes much more effectively.

On Offense the best position in this years game is the RB's. Since blocking has improved you can dominate with an elite back.

On defense the most over rated position is still CB. Whether you play zone or man, I feel that there is minimal difference between an elite Cb and a mediocre CB.

But probably the most important aspect of Madden 25, are the offensive and defensive linemen. I always like playing with a team that can block effectively and on defense linemen that can bring the heat.

    So with that being said.

    Offense:
    1.) RB
    2.) O-line
    3.) QB
    4.) WR
    5.) TE

    Defense:
    1.) FS
    2.) SS
    3.) D-line
    4.) LB
    5.) CB

Curious as to why you think WR on offense and CB on defense are the most important positions in this game?

I feel there is little difference between T.J Graham/Joe Morgan vs Torrey Smith

Re: What's your top 5 most important Positions in the game?

Offense - I utilize short passing so having a strong TE, Slot WR, and a good receiving FB is essential to my offense. O-Line isn't much of a concern because my passes are quick and I rarely run counters or delays. A semi-mobile QB with good short passing is perfect for my offense, and ideally I have a speed back who can receive.
        1) TE
        2) Slot WR
        3) FB
        4) QB
        5) RB

Defense - Give me a strong DT with a bull rush move and I can consistently pressure the QB. Having an elite CB is huge because I play man-to-man and I really don't have to worry about getting beaten over the top on one side of the field. MLB has the best positioning of anyone on your team, so that player needs to be among your best. Having OLBs who excel in man coverage is a great way to shut down opposing tight ends and running backs receiving out of the backfield.
        1) DT
        2) CB
        3) MLB
        4) ROLB
        5) LOLB

          Offense:
          1. TE-this is the easiest way to win imo, use your TE
          2. HB
          3. WR
          4. QB

          Defense
          1. MLB
          2. SS
          3. CB
          4. LOLB

If I had to pick 5 of the above 8
          1. MLB
          2. HB
          3. SS
          4. TE/WR
          5. LOLB

Re: What's your top 5 most important Positions in the game?

                For me would be:

                DE
                LB
                TE
                OL
                CB

As others have said I feel WR and QB can be switched out what it comes down to is your patience with them. I perfer fast WR always I like to spread the field so I have 4 wr and a TE. All with over 90 speed cant really beat that.

In my last draft I got in my france which I won 5 games first season. I took Grim DE , Sandcastle CB and Stone OL. Those three crutial picks litteralty carried me to the playoffs.

#1 RB#2 Run Stop DL#3 Tight end or I'll accept a posession reciever.#4 Pass rush specialist LB or preferably DE#5 Tackling LBIf I have a run stop defense first, followed by a run game and short posession passes, i can contend with any team. If and when I get ahead because of my safe passing attack that doesn't require alot of QB talent and my steady run game, I can play keep away with my secondary. It will be more scheme than talent in coverage. Some well timed blitzes and zones and I will get some easy turnovers.

Have you played with an elite WR or TE yet? Torrey Smith is not elite. Grab a guy like Megatron or AJ Green and see the difference. It is even more apparent when you move them around. There is little difference if you just go to the curl ll game long but if you use a multi dimensional offense there is big difference. Just try to stop someone who has an elite TE and knows how to use them.

CBs matter as well. You and I both use the Ravens right? You don't notice a large difference between Webb and Graham? On nickel packages put Webb over the slot and press. It works. If you have corners that can press it changes your defense.

I Agree with the Above Post about Elite CB

I Think in Madden Elite is simply 95+

With that, if you put a 95+ CB Combined with the "CB 1 Inside" Package

It can cause MAJOR problems for people who like to use the slot receiver. The offense can't tell who you move around on Defense so easily.

Call a Cover 2 Man, But use CB 1 inside package. Then use your 1 CB and mix it up by calling Hook zones, or you can manually move him to the Inside and it will shade the WR for inside passes. (Same with Outside shading, but usually a good placed HOOK ZONE Audible can cover that + Press)

                        Well....for my style of play

                        1) OL - I must have a line that can run block

                        2) RB - I love to run the ball....and I am really good at it. My best Madden skill so having a 3 down back is not only a must....it is for me my single most important skill position

                        3) MLB - I love to roam....adjust, and freelance with a dominant MLB in a 4-3 defense.

                        4) CB - gotta have a shut down corner in a passing league.

                        5) DE - another key position. I must be able to rely on a DE to wreck havoc and cause bad decisions and get some sacks.

With a capable QB and steady WR's I can win as long as I have the above. My running game sets everything up. And on defense my IQ keeps me in games.

                          Most important?
                          1. DE
                          2. DT
                          3. LB
                          4. TE
                          5. WR

Haven't really noticed or have had any troubles when using QBs from any rating range (from the low 70s to the high 90s) so I wouldn't call it important having a highly rated one. I've gotten over 2,000 yards with a mid-range HB (mid 80s) so I don't think that is too important either.
Pretty much the top 5 up there I have noticed the biggest difference between low to high rated players, maybe not necessarily in that order though. Haven't played with a team that has elite CBs or safeties yet though.

EDIT: I am only talking about controlling the players yourself and whatnot. I have seen noticeable differences between mediocre and elite QBs, HBs, etc when the computer team has them. That would call for a different top5

I have. You don't need 99 CIT to catch a wide open seam pass. Not saying that there isn't a difference; What I am saying is that having a stud WR is over rated, because I don't throw to WR's/TE that look covered.

May sound contradicting, but It's a huge plus having one possession WR/TE wit a high CIT.

Nice responses in this thread. Keep them coming.

                              Offense:
QB - My play style requires a big arm QB.
WR - My offense won't move if no one can catch.
T - Have to keep those DE's at bay so I can throw the ball.
G - Have to maintain the pocket
TE - Help blocking when needed and can go out and catch the ball.

                              Defense:
CB - If they can't run with the top receivers, you're gonna have a LONG day on defense.
DT - Push the pocket, make the opposing QB throw on the move.
DE - Crush the pocket, get sacks.
SS - My security blanket, needs good ZC and physical abilities.
MLB - My run stopper, needs good pursuit and acceleration.
