4EverydayPlayers: Do You Celebrate If You Clinch

...a playoff berth, or division title.

I sure as hell would, lol. In light of the Dodgers diving into the Diamondbacks pool today, How far have/would you go in a celebration for such a event. It's at least worth a rare beer for me while I kick back on my couch, same for you? or would you take it even.. further?

I'm jumping into my own pool if I clinch the division. As for my Dodgers, I am happy now, but the job is not finished. World Series Champions or bust.

If I had champagne I'd probably pop champagne in my own bedroom.

If I was an Arizona player....I would have drank a quick pot of coffee......a whole bar of laxative and dropped trou in the pool while they were in there.

Personally I don't see the big deal with LA celebrating, but that's just me.

Players celebrate after road victories all the time, especially in other sports.

If you don't want them celebrating, don't give them something to celebrate.
Sometimes I feel like baseball needs to man up, collectively.

Celebrating....on the field for a while and in the locker room .....of course.
Going out to the other areas? Out of bounds IMO.
YOUR field....have at it anywhere you want.

As PTI Wilbon said, "I don't see the deal with the sanctity of the pool. If you don't want the Dodgers celebrating in your house: next time beat them."

It's not about sanctity...it's not about the pool itself....it's about class and sportsmanship.
Things that are SORELY lacking in sports these days.
IMO when you win on the other guys turf....you shake hands...and celebrate in private like a nut.

Here is an example of class......Chuck Foreman....Minnesota Vikings...would score a touchdown and simply walk over to the ref and hand him the ball. Like a man...not like a little child.

Everything because we grind to finish a 162 game season just as hard as ballplayers in our own little way. And very hardcore players tune their gameplay for the toughest challenges, so clinching playoff spots, divisions and any type of success, could be significant for them at least in the moment.

If I win the division or clinch a postseason berth I will probably celebrate by having a beer or 2 or 6 162 games is a long season especially to play in a video game so if I make it that will be worth celebrating alone. I plan on having MLB13 for probably a couple years so hoping to get thru several seasons. Even when I do get tired and put it down, it only takes about a day before I miss it.

I'm playing all 162 in my Red Sox franchise and I currently have 20 games remaining. Anyone interested/bored can follow the progress in my sliders thread as I post a quick recap and box score from every game and post occasional stats/standings updates.

It's been quite the grind and a hell of a chore to play all 9 innings of 162 games without simulating at all, but it's been as enjoyable as any gaming experience I have ever had.

I will celebrate by throwing in a fresh dip of skoal mint and enjoying my accomplishment.

                          Ha. Good topic.

I haven't in the past (in fact, if it's a division title, I've simmed out the last # of games after clinchig), but this year has been such a long, tiring grind I just might -- IF I make it.

77-67 w/ Phillies, a 1.0 game lead over AZ for 2nd wild card, 2 games over LAD. White knuckle time. Braves are up 15 on me in NL East. So that's over.

A cigar and some Maker's Mark may just be in order, if & when ...

After I clinched the division I cracked open a beer. There were no punting of any beer cans though. That would be a waste.

Clinch? Heck, I do a fist pump when I get out of tight jam by key strikeouts or inducing a double play that ends the threat.

Let alone win a playoff berth. I'd probably grab my dog and twirl him around in happiness and dance like they do on The Fox song.
