In Be a GM mode? Do you normally play all 82 games, or do you do something like playing every x-amount of games? I was thinking of playing every 4th game, so playing the opener, taking 3 games off, playing the next game. Any other suggestions that work well for you guys?

I have multiple files. I have ones I play every game on and ones I sim. I turn injuries off for the simmed ones because of the frequent injuries that occur. I usually have three I play on the go with varying settings for each one. One might be all rookies and the other might be all players over 35.
With the patched GM mode, it's almost as much fun as NHL 12 now. The draft sucks though. There are no gems in later rounds anymore.
I even find myself plugging in NHL 12 some days just for the depth of its GM mode and prospects....

I play all of my games. But it takes a lot of time to finish many seasons. But I like to play all of my games Superstar difficulty. I put trading difficulty to hard, but (realistic) trading doesn't seem hard at all.Comment

I play all my games, takes me a long time as well but that's mainly because other games come out by the end of October that take up more of my playing time.Comment

I play between 30-40 a season. One of my self imposed rules is that i only play home games. It helps keep me honest in simulating. Ill do this right through the playoffs as well, and yes i have lost series because i dont have home ice advantage, and it sucks but keeps it somewhat real.Comment

I'm glad someone has spoken out about the absurdity of the draft now. When I would sim NHL 13, I never produced a NHL-caliber prospect after the third round. At least between NHL 09-12 you'd have some later round gems here and there.
I typically play the first season in full, before I begin to sim here and there along the way. I managed once to finish 4-5 years of NHL 10 after I would only play three games a month (one AHL, two NHL).
I like the idea of playing only the 'home' games, though. Something I shall incorporate into my current franchise in NHL 14.Comment

I play 1 in every 4 games. A 20 or so game season is plenty for me. I leave injuries on as I like the challenge of working my roster and finding players who can step up.
In the playoffs I play one sim one, even if it's an elimination game. I often find sports games a little deflating when you win a title, don't know why, so I have to be strict and always play one sim one. I do lose to the CPU, but if I lose on a simmed game, so be it.Comment

All 82 and then when the next release is approaching (say late Aug) I start to sim seasons. I'll tell ya I used to play a heck of a lot more before I got married (5 years ago) and had a kid (1.5 years ago)!
