NFL Head Coach 09 Wish List

I'm starting this thread as a place for people to post the things they wish were included in Head Coach 09. I obviously like the game or I wouldn't be posting here, but there are a couple things that would have made the game more easy to manage for me:

    1. I wish you could set a depth chart for each formation instead of just one for the entire team. This would be particularly useful on defense. In my base defense I might have a run stuffer DL or LB in my lineup, but in the nickel I might bring in pass rushing or coverage specialists.

    2. I wish there was a screen where I could see each player's ranking for every philosophy at a glance. Yeah, I know I can just look at the individual attributes and I can also cycle through the philosophies one by one, but this would have just been a lot more user friendly.

I have others, but that's enough to start the list.

Ability to edit rosters in-game at the main menu, without having to download outside files.

And of course, on a slightly larger scale, I wouldn't turn my nose up at a new game in the next couple of years.

A loud, active and invested crowd atmosphere that reacts in a realistic way. the sounds are just stale and almost non existent at times. I dont know how many times i've made goal line stands and wish my home crowd had erupted. Im on the side lines, I should hear the roar of the crowd through out the game.

        Audibles. Seriously, Audibles.

Everything the first head coach offered throughout your week, the office hours, the phone calls, the repetitive practices, the coaches meetings. I have no idea why these things were taken out. I Had always thought with this game being on a next generation console during your week it would have been possible to be able to have highlights of your upcoming opponents top 2-3 plays and have that be the focus in your practices.

shaking the hand of the opposing coach after the game.

the ability to edit draft classes....probably alot more but thats all I can think of right now.

          Main things:

          1. Editable roster, mostly ATTRIBUTES

          2. AUDIBLES. At the very least, I want "smart" QBs I have to audible on their own if they recognzie something. Like in Madden 08/09, QBs like Manning or Brees constantly changed up plays to try and beat you.

          3. Create your own draft class

          4. More advanced philosophies. What if I want a run stopping LE and pass rushing RE? Or my top receiver needs to be possession/tall while my slot receiver needs to be speedy and shifty?

          5. More consistent and/or easier-to-manipulate sliders

Re: NFL Head Coach 09 Wish List

I wish Draft classes could be imported like you could do in madden 12, maybe from ncaa fb- except that it would actually work past the first season

Revamped graphics- like in the draft especially, or lists of players for mock drafts- less boxy and more thin

Sound quality needs a big upgrade.

I'd love to actually be able to control the players, in addition to being the head coach- this might just turn into madden though

Fix the play creator glitch and less injuries.

Better depth chart- I like the statistics and the potentials but like JimK said, the every-philosophy screen would be nice too. this kinda goes along with the graphics. Also, the feature of being able to sub in, say my 4th string cb to the nickel because he's really good in the slot, but have other guys in my dime package

Actually have the names of players said in the Schefter/ McShay commentaries- instead of "The chiefs called a press conference this afternoon to announce the signing of one of this offseason's biggest free agents", "The chiefs called a press conference this afternoon to announce the signing of Demarco Murray" or something like that.

I would take out the positional coaches and trainers just because I never use them, but I don't really care about that.

Instead of 20 some different pro days, how about a list of colleges with their respective top player at their pro day where we choose 20 of them.

I would much rather have a formation/package creator and choosing to start a new play in that fixed formation instead of monkeying around with each player's position on the field or sifting through all of the formations.

            Editable roster is a must.

faster gameplay. I find that everything seems very slow in the game simulation.

Being able to change personality, playbook, etc. after creating a coach.

Better home screen for franchise/career mode- instead of this time-oriented thing, go through it one event at a time. for instance, during the season it might be practice\manage team for each day until sunday and then you have something like pregame\game\game report and then in the offseason it could go FA\Combine\pro days\individual workouts\draft\UDFA\training camp or something along those lines. They could cut out a bunch of stuff and totally revamp it to make the thing look a ton cooler and more user-friendly.

with trades, I like negotiations, but instead of only being able to trade one player at a time, be able to do multi-player on both sides trades, i.e. Desean Jackson+5 round pick for Troy Smith and a 2nd.

Being able to edit the plan for acquiring players- it might be called the team roadmap or that might be something else. if it is it needs to be fixed anyway as this is something that would be really useful.

Full-draft mocks rather than this 2 round thing. C'mon McShay!

Better Option plays. My Qb never seems to make the right decision on the option and it never gains any yards. I have Josh Johnson, he should be able to do it! This would be fixed by being able to control the players

These are some of the things I'd love to see in a HC15- next year. (Obviously there wont be anything this year but I would glady cough up $60 if EA incorporated all of my suggestions and brought the game back!) I love the game as it is, but these suggestions being incorporated would make it absolute dynamite and possibly one of the best sports games ever IMO.

I haven't tried the Coach mode in Madden 25 so maybe that's something that would be an upgrade- but still a huge fan of HC09!

The computer AI realistically playing against a 3-4 defense. My nose tackle never, ever gets double teamed. so frustrating when I have linebackers like martin mcpeek, beau bell, mike lumburgh and jeremiah hutch who can get to the quarterback but not nearly as often as I'd like or could simply because theres always an offensive lineman to pick them up.

the approval system could have done better and been more in depth, instead of just a screen to see where you stand, I would have liked a feature where you see comments and criticism from fans of how you're doing and maybe have had a feature where you see fans suggesting players they'd like to see you draft or players they feel are under performing or just completely worthless.

Your offense and/or defense is one of the best units in the league, I think that a coaching tree would have been a great feature to keep that was present in the first head coach. You've spent a few years grooming assistants to one day run their own show, I would have liked to get emails or public speculation from shefter about one of my coordinators having interest from other teams to become their head coach.

              PRESS CONFERENCES!

                1. Create your own draft class.
                2. Fantasy Drafts that could include coaching staffs.
                3. Editing Rosters from the game menu and editing coaches.

Goal Line Blitz 2, very fun football game where you create your own player, be a coordinator, or own a team.

This. If they would make HC15 and have more involvement with the media and fans, and make some small changes like crowd noise, audibles, and other minor tweaks, I think that they could make it into a huge game.

Yep, 3-4 defense is pretty much pointless in this game because the concept of the double team doesn't exist. If my LBs are going to have to be taking on Gs all day long, they might as well just be DL. Plus I don't really see the point in ever having a pass rush specialist cover a TE or RB (speaking of 3-4 OLBs), but I suppose that's a problem with the real life defense more so than an issue with the game.

It would be great to have the ability to watch part of the Combine, but first I want to choose the players I want to scout at the Combine, like in the first NFL Head Coach, but this time to watch the Combine myself. Then have some kind of interview with the players I've chosen to scout.

It would also be great if you could install real draft classes for the next 2 years.

I'd like to choose which position coaches are going to stay or leave at the beginning of my career like in the first NFL Head Coach.

And I'd like it if I could be in the office of the team facility, talk with the owner, review the team's progress, etc., like in the first NFL Head Coach.

It would be great if you could start as a college football head coach or a position coach. In NFL Head Coach 09, in Career Mode, the coach started as an amateur. If the coach is going to start as an amateur, he might as well start from the bottom, from a position coach, to a coordinator, to a head coach. I would also like to build the physique of the coach instead of choosing from preset coaches like in NFL Head Coach 09. And also to make the face of the coach however in want, or get your own Game Face, like in new games of EA Sports.

Co-op game mode so you can be offense or defense playcaller and a friend can be the other.
