    Comeback code in NHL 14

Is there anything like the mythological comeback code in Madden in the NHL series.
In madden, if you're playing the CPU, you rarely dominate them for four quarters.
They always seem to make a comeback of some kind, where their defense makes incredible interceptions or wide receivers make stupendous catches that turn what seemed to be a cake walk into a nail biter.
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but it always seem to happen.
In this game, usually when you are winning or game is tied in the late going, there will come a sequence where the other team absolutely dominates.
They'll get off six, seven shots in a row, while your defensemen just stand there, watch the puck slide under their sticks, if they are not just skating into the boards completely out of the equation.
Your goaltender, who is maxed out to cover pucks, gives up rebound after rebound.
And when you do happen to corral a puck with one of your players, a pass to a wide open teammate is intercepted by a defender who came out of no where.
This usually continues until the other team has scored.
Sometimes, two of three times, as I had in a game between the Blues (me) and the Blackhawks. Chicago scored three goals on four shots in just under two minutes, turning a 2-0 lead into a 3-2 deficit.
I don't keep tabs on it, but I'm guessing it happens when you opponent has its top players on the ice and you're going with a fourth line or lesser defenders.
And while I guess that is possible, I have a hard time believing that it happens to the extent that it does.

Cpu is changing strategies and if that Cpu strategy slider is maxed it sometimes goes crazy. I personally have reduced that slider down to 1 click from minimum and seems like it has toned down the "desperation mode" of the Cpu teams. What I think is happening with that slider maxed is that Cpu is adjusting those energy-efficiency sliders in strategies and that causes it to go crazy sometimes. I don't believe there is a comeback logic in the game but I do believe there is some kind of momentum system which works both ways.

Obviously just me guessing things again but nobody from EA doesn't write about these things and I tend to believe what I see.

my opinion is that taku is right on with his post... I play with cpu strategy at zero...and I see very little "comeback logic" in my games... When I up the slider... There it is... or so it appears... EA will not respond to any of this.

It's not "comeback logic" This does NOT exist. What it is is the computer adjusting their strategy, as real NHL teams and coaches do. YOU, as the user, have to adjust your strategies, and playing style to counter it.

'Comeback Code' is a disease usually developed in still developing young minds.

Early symptoms were throwing the SNES controller yelling that Super Mario was, 'cheating', then throwing a tantrum.

When the infected becomes older, then still exhibit the same 'cheating' accusation symptoms as they were when the infected was immature. This never changes.

However the tantrums eventually take on a new form, coming onto message boards.

lol... I agree completely... Notice the quotation marks around the term "comeback logic"...

This will always be a debate. No matter what anyone says. One thing I noticed, and if I'm wrong correct me, is that if you want the CPU to control YOUR strategies, it ONLY adjusts the attack and defensive styles. It does not change the efficiency sliders or if a line should pass or dump the puck more.

This is something the CPU opponent does quite often. When we adjust the HUM Strat slider, it should adjust all relevant strategies, just like the CPU opponent does. It makes no sense to have this slider if the CPU "coach" only adjusts 1/2 your sliders. So when the feeling of "comeback" is happening, and you have your HUM strat sliders above 1, the amount of pressure you are applying is not changed, just the attack styles.

Again, another illogical decision by EA. Just like if you're playing position lock, you get to a shoot out, instead of only controlling that position in the SO, you have to control them all.

Anyway, putting the CPU strat on 1 does help alleviate this "comeback" feel. Also, put Attribute Effects no more than 4. Anything more, and it even makes the defenseman play like superstars, again, creating the feeling of "comeback".
