I grew up on live and made the switch in 2K8 after years of frustrations and no improvements by EA Sports to make this franchise more sim. Also EA not listening to it's consumers after years of complaints helped make the transition a lot more smoothly. No grudges toards Live or EA but I haven't been happier making the switch cause 2K rocks...! To those that hadn't made the switch what are your reasons..? I'm just curious and wanted to know.

Are There Any Loyal Live Gamers?
I know the Live series has been out since the 90s but are their any of you that hadn't made the switch to 2K...?

Re: Are There Any Loyal Live Gamers?
I don't believe there should be any loyalty in sports games. Your money should go to the game that delivers the best product. If the other companies want to earn your money, then they need to put out a better product.
Supporting inferior products only gives them more reason not to change from their bad habits.
The only reason I can see for supporting NBA Live is to breed competition (and thus better products) but, honestly, 2K looks to be doing just fine dominating the market on their own. They truly are an innovative company who not only likes to make boatloads of money but also deliver a superior game. -

I won't mention names, but there are a few DIEHARD Live fans on this board. If you go through the gameplay video threads, you'll be able to tell.I know the Live series has been out since the 90s but are their any of you that hadn't made the switch to 2K...?

Re: Are There Any Loyal Live Gamers?
Why would you be loyal to some corporate company? They don't care about you, they just want your money. 2K makes good basketball games, so I continue to give them my money, but I'm not really loyal to them at all. If for some reason there was a big dip in quality, then they wouldn't get my money any more.
Simple concept.Comment

Re: Are There Any Loyal Live Gamers?
Contrary to what some of you may think (because I'm so enthusiastic about recent Live products), I'm certainly no die-hard Live fan.
I loved Live as a kid, from Live 95 all the way to 2002, but then I discovered 2K and absolutely loved their products.
However, they started losing me after 2K8 (which was my favorite 2K game). I felt 2K9 was a step in the wrong direction. In 2010 I went with Live 10 because I felt they offered the superior simulation experience. Live 10 remains one of my favorite basketball of all time.
Last 2K game I bought was 2K12, and I had my fun with it, but it was a far cry from the glory days of 2K8 for me.
So now that Live looks to be offering a fundamentally sound brand of basketball, I'm back on board with them.
But basically, I just want a good hoops game. 2K makes alright games but these days, but since getting a taste of Synergy DNA in Live 10, I want more of that. And the connected experience is awesome. So it's Live 14 for me.Comment

Re: Are There Any Loyal Live Gamers?
I was a Live loyalist, but I don't watch basketball as much so my love for electronic BB games have waned a bit.
It's just not the same without Barkley, Jordan, Ewing, the mail man and others.
To me BB is watered down. They don't let goons get their burn anymore.Comment

Re: Are There Any Loyal Live Gamers?
Man I completely identified with you reading this post until that last paragraph which made me laugh under my breath. I played LiVe from 95 up until the Dreamcast dropped NBA2K. For me it was over for Live right then! I actually have most of my 2k offerings from Dreamcast, Ps2, Xbox Ps3 and the Xbox359 still tucked in a box up in the attic. 2K8 was my fave as well untill 2k11 then I hated 2k12.Contrary to what some of you may think (because I'm so enthusiastic about recent Live products), I'm certainly no die-hard Live fan.

I hope you get the demo of Live before you spend 60 bucks on it. The price will Definitely drop by the end of the month because.... well if you haven't seen by now you need to. Synergy or no Synergy paper football "looks" more fun and prettier.Last edited by sooperb; 11-19-2013, 05:35 PM.Playing NBA 2K feels like a job that pays minimum wage and then cuts your pay when you get your Bill's right to make it even harder to succeed. I do not like this game but it's the only one in town.
At cheese, I'm trash. At basketball, I'm great!

Re: Are There Any Loyal Live Gamers?
Live till I die man. Nothing else. Ok just kidding!!!! I played EA games going back to Lakers Vs Celticson computer. NBA Showdown, Live 95 all of them. Miss the great instrumental music from the 90's Live games. I played a few others like In the Zone & Showdown when ps1 hit but mostly it was live. I tried 2k when it first came out for PS2 & thought it was decent but the players were too heavy. Went back to live in until 06 I think. Just really fell in love with 2k. They offered a post game that was miles ahead of Live. I almost bought Live 10 because it was pretty solid. 2k totally rejuvenated my interest by adding in the Legends. After playing with stick figures for years, to have Jordan, Magic, Wilkins & Ewing look pretty realistic was awesome!
Glad they're back & hope they provide some competition.Comment

Re: Are There Any Loyal Live Gamers?
When the DEVS liken themselves to the up and coming Cavaliers it's not a good sign. Their Kyrie won't be enough to get them to the playoffs. They'll remain a lottery team and the only reason Kyrie stays will be for the larger salary they can offer. Mike Brown is back leading the way after he was dumped a few years back but his success was tied to LeBron and he left to join a team of champions.
EA Sports/Tiburon
Kyrie...Scott OG and Ryan F?
Mike Brown...Sean OBrien
Andrew Bynum...Marketing/PR
Dion Waiters/Anthony Bennett...Bounce Tek, cmon
