Can't believe it...I am done

I will try and keep this short. I had '12 and played 12 seasons of career, I play somewhat coach mode, I only control the running back, that's what I do. I had some good sliders and overlooked a bunch of stuff and enjoyed the game. It was no 06 or 07, but it was a fine game

I keep reading everything here when a game comes out, I am very busy but still got 14, even after reading the negatives. Well this weekend is when I get my chance to play and go nuts. I had enough background on the game thanks to you guys. I start my career with Tenn. and after going 6-1 I QUIT. I have never given up on a game so fast.

I see some stuff you guys bitch about but that is not what killed this game for me. I only read one other guy say this.

The computer cannot score quickly, every scoring drive is 12 or 14 plays. WTF? The computer QB averages 10 yards a completion, almost never throws deep. The other thing is running for me is too easy, I do ever break a long one but am averaging 5 yds per carry.

With those two things the game is unplayable to me. I like so many things about this game, the presentation, the recruiting but I cant play it. I am bummed. I tried tweaking things but it doesn't help. You can't make the computer throw deep...damn

Maybe the computer isn't going deep because it isn't the best decision.

Find some sliders that limit the running game. My personal favorite is Jrue's. Match that with Buffeye's roster and you have a damn strong game.

Next time you play a CPU game. Call Cover 2 Zone when they go 4 wide and see what happens. The CPU goes deep if it has the means. If not, it plays the hand it's dealt, just like any good QB should do.

I left the passing game on default as well as the opi/dpi sliders and the cpu does throw deep more often. once you start messing with these sliders the passing game gets messed up. running game I just lowered my run block sliders to 0 and rb ability to 15 and upped the cpu defensive run sliders to max.

now its a nice run game. I really have to mix my plays to get an effective run game going.

14 is solid with the right tweaks just avoid going slider happy after 1 game. Ive been using the same slider set for 3 straight seasons. no tweaks.
IMO 14 is better than 12.

So leave everything to default, which is 50 and it works better? Also i read that AA is the best level in terms of realism

If you are a coach mode player, try Pigpowered Sliders.
- the computer will score both on quick and long drives.
- you will only bust really long runs with a great speed back.

Like many have said before me, you may only need a good set of sliders. The game is not perfect, but I have too say it may be my favorite one.

I agree with the other guys, play on AA with all sliders at 50. You can play yourself or play in coach mode that way.

All I have played with is AA and I have been getting a lot of good games. I use 1-3 star teams mostly, using the OS community sliders and roster updates that I did to 100 of the 126 teams. The game is far from perfect and I do overlook a lot the issues, but I am really enjoying the games I am playing. I also do a mix of plays but also try to stay away to the slant or vert routes as much as possible and no money plays.

As far as the CPU not throwing deep, these were all from my last game against WVU (who in 2023 are using Tulsa's spread PB).

The first is against cover 2, the second against cover 2 sink, and the third against cover 4.

I'll tell you another way to get the CPU to throw deep. Switch your Zone Cover to Aggressive to take away the underneath stuff. All of a sudden they will go deep.. I found though like the sample vids above most of the time they are wide open because they get in that sideline gap of the zone. I mean if you really want to play the game and want to just make it challenging just go with all the coaches call. They will call Cover 2's which I feel are pointless in this game, they get beat deep consistently as the samples show. I think because almost every play call has at least one deep route and it will beat the Cover 2 in the game.

I also agree totally with what an early poster said. I started with a base of Matt10 Sliders and have adjusted and was running into this, the CPU never really throwing anything more than 10-15 yards downfield and that was even rare. First i played a game with aggressive zone and they went deep on me a few times. Even in the Under 2 Man where the safeties are in a zone, they cheat up. But I went and did a play now of Alabama vs LaTech All American with sliders and penalties all 50'd. Speed Thresh at 50 and Game Speed at Fast, to make me think quicker as I was passing with ease. Alabama went deep on me multiple times in the first half alone, both when a man was open and into single coverage. Plus they were getting 6 ypc on me as well. And I couldn't run at all. I was able to throw a little bit but also threw 4 picks.

With my PSU Dynasty I started feeling like I was going to win every game. And the play now game put me back in my place. Maybe the stats weren't going to be "right on" but they game was more wide open and fun even though I was getting demolished. I realize Play Now doesn't give the coach buffs, so that could be a major part of the problem as well.
Thing is i like the coach advantages because it makes coaches make a big difference. I think I am going to switch to the base sliders and fast speed moving ahead. If I start winning to easily then i will either jump up a level or try something else.

I've found when I start trying to make the game "perfect" it is a lot less fun then when I accept the shortfalls it has and take it for what i think it is. It is a fun game to me. I want to be able to take a team that is above average but not necessarily great and be the difference that puts them in the upper echelon. Or take a miserable team and be a little better than they really are and slowly build them up if I can. But what makes the game fun for each person is going to be different for everybody so i get it when people go crazy trying to make it fun an give up.
