One of the worse commissioners of all time is Roger Goodell. Wants football in london, exclusive license EA, stupid changed rules, and he is just horrawful.

As long as he is commissioner, there will never be 2k football since roger goodell eats EA executives buns for dinner every night.

The exclusive business model was in place before Goodell. Video games just werent as big. Look at apparel. Nike or Reebok has pretty much always had the exclusive. Video games themselves really exploded as an entertainment medium in the early 2000's in 2004, is when the NFL decided it wanted to go exclusive. It had everything to do with the Gaming industry booming and nothing to do with Goodell. There are plenty of crap things Goodell has done, but this one is not his fault, it is just the business decisions the NFL has ALWAYS practiced.

That's because the NFL is driven by a all exclusive business plan, including Rebok, Directtv, Coors, etc.... You can't blow up one part of the plan without blowing up the others.

In business, if it ain't broke, you don't fix it.

But from the NFL's perspective, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. You the consumer are the fault of why there will be no 2k football, Not Roger Goodell, Not Paul Tagliabue, not anyone elses. If you voted with your wallet, and refused to buy madden 06-07 etc. The NFL could view it as a mistake, however with sales of one game doing well, and the loss of total sales due to 1 product instead of 2 being off set buy a premium exclusive rights deal, The NFL sees nothing wrong. Sales for Madden are much higher than Madden 04 and 05, and even if they aren't "double" they are close enough that they are making more money having the exclusive. The NFL is in the making money business, not the appease the gamer business. And just so you know, the commissioner of the NFL is not the end all be all in decision making, especially financial decision making. That is a vote of all 32 owners.

Pointless thread. NFL doesn't care about video games. Just milking EA. They don't need Madden to be successful. The NFl was around before madden and would be just fine without it.

The NFL doesn't prevent 2K from making a football game. The fans do, because when they make 2k All Pro not enough ppl bought it to make it worth the invest to develop and create on a annual or even semi annual basis. Then EA stole their concept and Madden UT which at the core is ALL Pro premise of having legends and monetized it within their game.

Interesting, didn't think New Era was in the picture.

Still, a longshot I'd say about splitting up other services unless the owners do a 180. I agree with ManiacMatt's post.

There was a former EA employee who worked on EA's MVP Baseball, who still post here, stated back then, the NFL could get more money with one company vs all four combined.

It's a debate that is brought up here over and over and it won't go away until EA makes a great NFL football game or until the NFL changes their business ways.

Well I hope 2 k or SCEA studios are allowed to make a NFL game in 15 because I haven't bought a game since AP2k8 and it's getting ridiculous having to play a game last gen 6 years ago. Hockey is the same way.. Hope 2k or scea make a next gen title because it's going the same way.

I question whether 2k or any other company is really all that interested in making an NFL game. Maybe it is a very difficult task to take on? So if there are no other companies bidding for the exclusive deal it will just go back to EA, most likely..

There are actually several companies chomping at the bit to get an opportunity to do this. The potential revenue is HUGE. Not to mention, you think gamers are the only ones aware of what EA has done with football? You'd be naive to think that is the case...
