PSN Network Down? No Season Mode. Thanks 2K. Another Fail.

    Christmas Day 2013.

    PSN NETWORK IS DOWN.

PSN network has been down for more than 6+ hours for me, here in NYC.

So I decide to continue a 2k14 'season' that I started about a week ago, when I get an error that says...

"This save requires an active connection to the 2K Sports servers. To create a new save press [triangle] upon dismissing this dialog box"

Hmm.... Lemme get this straight.... So I have to START ALL OVER AGAIN... because the PSN network is not running, huh????

    2K, This is completely unacceptable.

VC requires us to be connected to the internet 24/7.
It is nothing more than a covert DRM tactic, imo.

2K, you need to remove VC from 'Season' mode.
Or better yet.... completely remove 'Season' Mode from the 'MyGM' mode, altogether.

Some of us care MORE about actually playing the game.... than earning dumb*ss VC.
    • If I want to manage a team... I will play as a GM.
    • If I want to play consecutive seasons I should be able to do that also. (i.e. Association Mode)
    • Regardless of the PSN Network availability.
    • Without having to start all over.

    Yes, I can play offline.
But Gamers only find this out.... "after the fact".... and THAT is the problem.

Whenever we star a 'new season'... there is no upfront messaging (in-game)_ that CLEARLY says we need to be connected to the 2K servers at all times, or the PSN network has to be running flawlessly 'in order to continue a season where we left off'. (Keywords: in order to continue a season where we left off)

Gamers only find this out.... "after the fact".... and THAT is the problem.

2K PUT THAT IN YOUR MARKETING VIDEOS... UPFRONT.
OR MAKE A SHORT, 2-MINUTE VIDEO THAT CLEARLY EXPLAINS THESE RESTRICTIONS.

The only thing I can play is 'quick games' because of the server crush from all the gamers who got a PS4 as a present, on Christmas Day.

For those reading this, the issue is....
    • If I am online... it will start an 'online' Season mode.
    • And In order to 'continue' that Season, I have to remain online. All the time.
    • I can also start a Season mode 'offline'.
    • But In order to 'continue' that Season, I have to remain offline. All the time.

    THERE IS NO IN-BETWEEN.

AND THERE IS NO WAY I GET TO CHOOSE 'WHICH' SEASON I WANT TO CONTINUE.... OFFLINE OR ONLINE.

PSN Network is up & running ?
Play online. Stay online. in order to progress my Season.

    PSN Network goes down?
Play offline. Stay offline. in order to progress my Season.

    PSN Network comes back up?
I cannot elect to continue my 'offline' Season.
It automatically continues my 'online' Season.

Therefore, you cannot reliably advance a 'Season' when you have no control over the PSN Network.
    THAT's THE PROBLEM.

And when the PSN Network is back up & running in a day or so.... you have to completely disconnect your PS4 from the internet to continue the new 'offline' Season.

    THAT's THE PROBLEM.

I did not pay $60 damn bucks for 'Quick Games' alone.
    Or constant Season Resets.

What do you mean get their servers right? No matter how much money you sink, there are ALWAYS going to be situations where always-online screws over the customer while providing nothing in return for the requirement. Whether it's Sony/Microsoft, your ISP or 2K, you can bet at some point you're going to encounter a problem with always-online. And why exactly is the requirement there? So that 2K can monitor that you don't make one single extra VC by accident so they can charge you more for playing via microtransactions. Yay. What a joke.

I just simply wanted acces to my custom roster for OFFLINE quick games, but couldn't access it because of how 2K set this up in next gen....

The way the online saves are supposed to work is, when you start a game, it should save that file to your HD but also synch to the cloud. The cloud is supposed to be a back up or if you want to go over your friends house and play, you can pick up where you left off.

BUT if the server goes down you should be able to play from your HD save, then when it comes back online, you should be able to synch back to your cloud save to update the progress you made.

How can 2k mess this up.

This game feels like NBA 2K as a 360 launch title. Dumbed down with little depth. Waited till Christmas to open my PS4 and this game. ABSOLUTELY disappointed. I didn't expect buying Madden to save my initial next generation experience, but it has. 2K might be the first game I trade, and it will no longer be a sure buy.

I'm not sure how the PSN issue is 2k's fault. If PSN is down then ever server that follows will be down. That is not 2k's fault.

No one is blaming 2K for PSN being down. People are blaming 2K for requiring PSN to be up in order to play what should be offline game modes in mycareer and mygm. It was a ridiculous decision to require an online connection to access those modes.

Its not even the point PSN went down and you can't play.

If your internet goes out, you can't play your offline season.

Having an always on requirement for no reason is completely, solely, absolutely 2K's fault.

Its partial MS fault too for taking out the ability to choose where to save your files on the cloud or the HD.

Not sure why MS took that out. Cloud saving should only be a back up.
