Coordinators and positions coaches

What role would coordinators and position coaches play in the game? If they ever get added back in, and put position coaches in, I'd like them to play a more significant role than arbitrary point increases.

You would have to rescale the coaching legacy thingy, and rescale the way the coaches are rated in general. Do we build them into the current system, or redesign the system around them?

What would drive the AI and player to promote their coaching staffs? Should the coaches have more influence on the players the as a head coach or position coach?

There a few options you could do.

1) Skill bonuses. The coordinators would provide an attribute boost to their players by position grouping (QB, Backfield, WR & TE, Lineman).

2) A Chemistry type system with HC and players based on scheme and familiarity. Since Chemistry is something that is hard to put a quantitative rating to maybe it can be worked in with some sort of home field advantage. Where if you are in a system with same coordinators for a long tenure it is easier to audible on the road, where if you try it in a new system some players will run wrong route or won't hear and run same route. Something like that...

3) Different coordinators have their own playbooks and you can only use that playbook. Number of plays and formations would be based on skills and scheme.

To the chemistry aspect, I'd actually think chemistry to be the sort of a modifier to the effectiveness of the coaching staff.

A neutral team has a chemistry of 50 and it provides no bonuses either way. Less than fifty give negative modifiers and more than 50 gives positive bonuses.

I'd like to see coaches have position specialties and even specialties among those specialties.

So for a WR coach, you have a possession type coach, a Vertical type coach, a route running specialist, and a balanced coach. Vertical coaches focus on spectacular catch, release and catch. Possession coaches focus on route running, catch in traffic and route running, route running specialists will focus on route running, and release, and a balance coach will focus on catch, route running, and release.

Possession coach: -15% catch, -25% Catch in traffic, -15% route running
Spectacular coach: -15% catch, -25% spectacular catch, -15% release
Route Running coash: -27% release, -28% route running
balanced coach: -20& catch, -20% release, -15% route running

The negative percentages refer to the percentage reduced cost for upgrading those ratings. So at a chemistry of 50, those will be at full effect, at 100 chemistry those would be multiplied by 25% and at 0 chemistry they would be multiplied negatively by 25%.

So that would be .25*.25 + .25 = .31 for the specialist. The numbers here are all just to display a concept and in no way meant to represent actual in game calculations as these are completely untested.
