    Adryan stuck at 72

    What's up folks.

I don't normally comment around these parts, but I was hoping someone has some insight for me.

I'm in year 3 of career mode with Leeds United and everything is going swimmingly. I used the financial takeover and turned the extra money into cheap and affordable young studs. The plan has worked great.. Raheem Sterling, Sebastian Coates, Samed Yesil, Anthony Martial, Jetro Willems and Cassio have all been progressing quickly as normal, and the result has been a lot of good winning football.

The glue to the entire squad, however, is Adryan the FIFA career mode legend. He is my captain and #10, and his form is always excellent. (Arrow is always pointing straight up). This is all fine and dandy, but he is NOT progressing. I don't understand it. He's playing as my CAM and doing amazingly... I brought him in as a loaner in year 1 and he progressed about 5 points that season, but as soon as I bought him over a year and a half ago, his rating has stayed completely static. I know he's one of the highest potentials in the game, so I have no idea what the problem is.

Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

it's just the dice roll of player potential in this year's version. some guys don't pan out. i suppose it's meant to mimic reality where not all highly-touted players deliver. it's random and not specific to a player across all career modes - i've had vilhena and luke shaw progress very well in one career mode and not a single stat increase in another.

I like the fact that they are not guaranteed to become superstars. Just like in real life. Some live up to their potential, others don't.

I totally agree that every player shouldn't just automatically progress... That is very unrealistic, but what I don't understand is why my best player (not rating, but form) on a team that gets promoted and then wins the Premier league doesn't increase a single stat... It just doesn't make sense. Meanwhile Anthony Martial is progressing right along with Yesil and he's not even starting every game.

I think they are on to something, I just think progression should be a little more performance based.

Also - this happened to me in my last CM with Lukaku and Oxlade-Chamberlain. They both got stuck at 79. But I was Liverpool and had a wealth of talent at my disposal, so I sent them each out on loan and they started to progress away from the club. The problem is that I can't get rid of my best player for a season!

what i think it is, Adryan is such a complete 72 overall player, that its harder to increase his stats.... where as a lot of players increase just off pace and have other really low stats, where adryan pretty level and high n a lot of areas.

I had this happen with Bruma in a career that i simmed a good amount of. He stayed at 79 for two + years...not progressing at all.

During that next year he finally started to and got to 80 overall. I think there is a chance some guys end up progressing later in their career. Just a guess.

Happened to me with Kurt Zouma. He was stuck at 78 forever.

Sent him out on loan, I'll see if that changes anything

The CM devs have said that they've put code in the game this year to add greater variety to player growth, and that sometimes a player simply won't grow. Sometimes they just won't grow for a year, sometimes several years, etc.

Basically, you have to take player potentials with a grain of salt. Not only that but you have to expect players to hit those potentials at different rates and times.

On one hand it's nice that there's greater variety; on the other it kinda sucks when a player is performing lights out but doesn't improve. Needless to say, player growth still needs quite a bit of work.

                      No, probably not the case.

My Adryan is at 80 OVR after 2 seasons. Sometimes, players in CM just don't progress. Seems to be part of the game design.

Very well said.. A lot of work needs to be done. Certain players that are obviously class should develop even if they may not be getting a lot of run, but even if players don't have gobs of potential, they should definitely get better if they are murdering the league... For example, in my Leeds career, I picked up Urby Emanuelson off the scrap heap in Milan and put him back at midfield, he started leading the league in assists and he didn't go up one single point, even after a season in which he obviously showed good passing traits. A player should grow depending on how he's playing.

Another example - Jeremy Lin - He was rated as a mid-50's player in NBA 2k12 (or something), in NBA 2k13 he jumped all the way up to a mid-70's maybe even 80's player. Why? Because he was KIL-LIN IT (Horrible pun intended). That's how sports goes. Would love to see video games embrace that.

I'm not sure you can say a player with "obvious class" should develop. In most cases they do...but not every case in real life.

There have been players who would be the next star who didn't turn out to be.

Agreed... But if we're speaking from a video game standpoint, players like Januzaj from Man U or Martial from AS Monaco who are 18 years old and actually playing well in a top-tier league, they are who i am talking about. Gobs of potential, class ball control, etc... Stuff you can't teach

i find that development is seemingly random. Jack Butland being the name that comes to mind. After hearing great things about him, I signed him in on of my career modes, only to see him flop and never grow a point. However, in a different mode, I've seen him up to 83-84. I don't get it. Didn't play him any differently.

Perhaps there is some relation to the team around them and their development? Ex: He would potentially grow better on Bayern, having a world class team around him, than say Huddersfield Town.

                              Thoughts?
