PES 2015 To Be Totally Changed

According to a report on VideoGamer.com yesterday, Pro Evolution Soccer 2015 will be 'totally changed' for this upcoming year's release.

Konami Europe head Shinji Hirano told MCV Magazine that the franchise was ready for a comeback in 2015.

"I cannot give details on exactly what we are doing with the UK studio, but they are working on the next project and looking at the needs of the European people. It's about globalizing the franchise, so it is not just being developed by Japanese people."

In the article, Hirano is quoted as saying that Konami recognizes the mistakes PES has made and the company is ready to fix them.

PES 2015 will be making its next-gen debut on the PS4 (at least) later this year.

I really hope PES comes through with a strong product. I'm loving FIFA 14 on PS4, but I love having another strong title to mix it up.

Wow, really. After all the hype last year. So then what do they even men by "totally change?" Does that mean no more Fox Engine? Sounds like a game and a production team that's just blowing in the wind.

Typical PES. Another year, another promise, another product that does nothing to regain any of the franchises lost glory.

It's staggering to see Konami grope and struggle to see what virtually the entire planet knows is the shortcoming of PES - awful interface and presentation overall, sub-par graphics, and lack of licenses are what keeps the series back.

What the series excels at is the game on the pitch. That game, to me, is the best representation of soccer on the field.

I hope that they release this game and it is awesome. I also hope they release it on the Xbox One. If not, I won't be getting it.

They do have a long way to go, but I think with improved keepers, and increased CPU IQ, I'd be happy. I think the overall look of the game is promising heading into next-Gen.

I enjoy the gameplay, but everything else is a miss for me with PES.

Enjoying 2014 immensely. Mods fix a lot of the problems (on PC anyway) like licenses. There are also some great gameplay patches which improve the gameplay (e.g., shooting) on the pitch as well (over at evo-web.co.uk).

Yeah, same for me. Having two strong footy titles would be great!

Can't wait. I love FIFA 14 manual settings online, but I still miss the uniqueness of the matches on PES.

I used to love PES (way back from the ISS days). It used to be brilliant but I don't know how they managed to mess up such an awesome franchise. I think the problem in the first place is the game's lack of identity which is still evident to this day. Look at their annual slogan: change, change change.

How about just sticking back to the old formula, add some presentation/animation and it just may not be too late to save this sinking ship.

I'm wary of this as well. The Fox Engine was one of the main selling points and it led to some interesting moments on the pitch. I'd say 2014's on-field gameplay was close to next-gen FIFA but was severely limited by its few licenses and the last-gen hardware. PC was, by far, the best platform PES2014 released on.

If 2015 ends up becoming a Madden-type "scrap and rebuild" effort after one disappointing but optimistic year, I'm not sure what to expect from the next PES.
