Does selecting your favorite team matter in MyCareer?

I selected the pelicans as my favorite team.

I made a Center, got an A grade. Got interviewed by them and selected all the positive stuff and did the negative options for the kings.

I have replayed the draft over and over again.

I get selected 5th or 7th every time. Never 6th.

    What am I doing wrong?

Favorite team doesn't matter when u get drafted. It matters during your first season, there is a scripted event in which you can get traded to your favorite team every time. Accept the sidekick role, then ask the gm to trade the star player...the GM gets pissed and trades you for nothing.
