OS Site History.....
So, I read this:

...and that made me think of this: Quote:
So those of you that have been around, shed some light if you don't mind. I joined in 2007 and stayed strictly in the 2K football and basketball sections. I don't think I even came to the neighborhood section until around 2009/10. In case anyone wanted to know that. |
Re: OS Site History.....
I can't say much for exactly how the site started, but I still remember Shredder messaging me on (I believe) the IGN game boards. The site was pretty small back then, but the community was incredible.
But like I said, I don't remember much more than posting in the early days, as I was at the ripe age of 14 when Shredder invited me here. The biggest thing to me was the strong sense of comraderie here, much unlike any other board I had been around. It started small, and quite a few people who were around in the beginning stuck around for a long time, and some are still here. The mods have always been top notch and friendly, and have done an excellent job of keeping the site professional. |
Re: OS Site History.....
I've always wondered some of those same questions.

Re: OS Site History.....
The thing that I love the most about this community is that we always stick together in a certain aspect. There are always guys around from the old days imparting their wisdom onto the new minds that just recently joined. I was thinking about this the other day when I logged on and I saw my registration date. I said to myself "Damn it's gonna be my sixth year here? I still feel like it's my first".
OS has this amazing ability to connect people. More so than I have seen on any other forum. We all know certain things about each other and I'm glad we are able to share everything. Lets be honest here on what Forum could you hear a story of a guy getting invited on Doctor Phil concerning his relationship? How about the certain story involving a guys wife and her Fat Sister? Or a Forklift truck simulator? I swear This only happens on OS. And as soon as we see a reference like that we start dying of laughter. At the same time we're able to share personal stories about our families' struggles and dark periods of our life. As far as I know I've never met a single member from OS in real life. However I feel like I legitimately know some of you guys and I've never had that feeling before from an internet community. At this point I'm rambling so I'll close it up. This place has a long, vast history and I hope we keep adding to it. |

I seem to remember something about Steve not being the original owner of Operation Sports, but it didn't really begin to take off until the previous owner sold it to him and he (along with those working with him) ran with it.

Re: OS Site History.....
I joined this site cause of MVP Baseball 2005(yet another good thing that came out of that game! Honestly,MVP Baseball 2005 even to this day I'd say was my fave sports video game ever. I had so much fun playing it,especially that arcade mode with the hitting stuff, and not to mention it had greatest soundtrack ever(which is why I love that MLB The Show has custom soundtracks,so I can add it in))
I was on a site called "FanFareGames" and it was basically just a sports site for "CAPs" of NBA Live and MVP Baseball. Back before online roster updates were available, so people had to manually create the players in the game and then post the formulas online in text form. I think the site was shutting down or just becoming less active, so I tried finding a new site to join to get the CAPs and all that, and it lead me to this. Speaking of which...Was anyone from here apart of "FFG"? I remember years ago someone from that site messaged me on here, but I don't believe I've really ever messaged anyone from that site since. I was one of the more active people on that site, and for the small NHL section they had, I was one of the only people who used to post stuff there |
