The problem with no leaning/grinding animation as a defense mechanism

One of the complaints you usually hear is not getting "full-stick" control.
Currently, you are either going for a full-stretched poke-check or one animation for stick lift

Problem with not having a leaning or grinding animation stacks on top of the issue in not having "full-stick" control

    Some examples:

The current problem is, when you activate any of these animations you begin gliding. Similar to stance that Radko Gudas can be seen in the above photo. However, unlike what we see in the EA Sports game, Gudas is leaning on Duchene causing Duchene to lose puck control, so Matt won't skate away with the puck

    Examples:

In this photo, #10 Blue Jersey continues skating. #3 White Jersey activates the "stick lift" animation. #3 begins to glide.
It's pure physics. They say you will take a penalty if you do not keep your legs moving.
The game does not allow you to move your feet and use your stick at the same time.

The developers have half of it correct. It's okay to glide when you're in the stick lift animation. But you should only glide when you've got position with your opponent and begin leaning/ grinding... which the game does not allow.

Agree, body and stick should be able to move separately, and not be a canned animation where you player halts because he's poking.

I imagine the day when we can use the stick for things like these...

Thank you EA - This game is officially better than sex

Whats ridiculous is the CPU have this, and we as controllers do not... Or atleast I have no idea how to do it. My players attacking when the CPU gets close to them, they literally grind against my player knocking him off the puck, there is no way to shake them off either. This is open ice btw, not the holding against the boards.

I try to do this with my players using the hitting button, nothing they just bounce right off unless I make a big hit.

EA says they can't do this because either the consoles can't handle it, the casuals can't handle it or they can't come up with a control scheme for it.

The things I've seen on the EA forums are so disheartening and are one of the reasons I have finished buying EA products.
