Most people I talk to play either safety or MLB.
I always play RE as I love to sack the QB

The Will/Wanda/weak side line backer. Flow over to cover sweeps but still contain cut back lanes. Protect agaisnt the late breaking deep in, post or crossing routes. You cna also just bltiz the B or C gap as well.

Right side safety seems to be the most versatile. Lots of passes tend to go to the right side of the field, and you can move him around to stop the run or show blitz to help pressure the QB. And if you move him too far out of position, you can quickly throw up an audible before the ball gets snapped to move some other defender to cover that area you abandoned.

I typically user whatever AI player on my D has the worst PRC and AWR. Typically there's at least one youngster out there so I try to compensate with stick skill.
