Duty-Honor-Country: Army Black Knights Football (NCAA 14)

    Duty-Honor-Country: Army Black Knights Football

    Game: NCAA 14
Sliders: Miles Perry's Minimum Changes, Maximum Results
    Rosters: Bamaboi

    Rules, via Miles Perry

    Gameplay Rules:

No user catching unless I controlled the player at the start of the play.

    No switching players on defense.

    Can't abuse read option.

    Can't abuse corner/out routes.

    Recruiting Rules:

1* prestige: May only target 2 star or under players, 3 star Juco allowed. 5 recruits to be out of state.
2* prestige: May sign five 3 star recruits (if in their top 3 to start season), 7 out of state.
3* prestige: May sign 2 four star recruits (if in their top 3 to start season), twelve 3 star recruits. 10 out of state.
4* prestige: May sign one 5 star recruit (if in their top 3 to start season), seven 4 star recruits. 10 out of state.
5* prestige: May sign three 5 star recruits, twelve 4 star recruits. 15 out of state.
    6* prestige: No restrictions.
3 star recruits may be added to board if they are ranked outside of top 100 in their position.
I can add/subtract 10-15 pounds on recruits AFTER their freshman year.

    Via JHedges2:

Don’t use money plays to abuse the AI

    - If up big, conservative clock management should be used

    - Squib kicks should be used sparingly, if at all (SIM-STYLE)

    - 4th downs should be handled as you would see teams handle them on Saturdays

    - Ensure your recruiting assistance is OFF, so that over-signing is not an ‘accident’

My thoughts on switching players, post snap: This is to be SIM style. That means that players should not get a ‘boost’ from you, the user. If you want make USER catches, then play as DB’s or WR’s pre-snap. I don’t think it’s ‘fair’ to the CPU to play as a pass rusher, then switch to the DB to make the play on the ball too. Same goes on offense. USERs will be able to make better judgements concerning throws, so they should not be able to ‘out-maneuver’ defenders to make catches too.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

    RECRUITING RULES/RESTRICTIONS

Formula used to determine how many prospects you may sign:

The number of seniors you have, plus the number of total players on your roster away from 70 (i.e. 68 = 2), plus the team’s prestige bonus (6* = 0, 5* = 2, 4* = 4, 3* = 6) to get the number of recruits you may sign.

    EXAMPLE:

TEAM A has 15 seniors, 69 players, and is a 4* program. So the formula is as follows:

    15 + 1 + 4 = 20

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

    PLAYERS LEAVING EARLY/TRANSFERS

For each player that leaves early or transfers, I may add a prospect to your signing class.

So, in above example, Team A is allowed 20 prospects, if said team has 3 players leave for NFL, they are given an additional 3 prospects in off-season recruiting.

If above team signed 23, when only allotted 20, and 3 leave early, they are not allowed to sign any in off-season, but also are not penalized.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

    RECRUITING PENALTIES

For each prospect that is signed over a team’s limit, it will cost the team 3 scholarships per year, for the next 2 seasons.

    Example:

Team A is allotted 20 scholarships, they sign 22 players. They will be deducted 4 scholarships each season, for the following 2 seasons.

If said team over-signs while on probation, they will be removed from the league.

Additionally, I must follow Army's height and weight requirements (maximum of 6'8 height, 280 pounds weight,) and no redshirting, as pointed out to me by Manning2Harrison.

A Brief History of Army Black Knights Football

Army, also known as West Point has been playing football since 1890, when they faced now-arch-rival Navy. Navy won the firs game in this legendary rivalry, but Army returned the favor the next year. Typically, Army faces Navy every December to close the NCAA Division I college football regular season. Army plays its home games at Michie Stadium in West Point, New York.

Army has only been in five bowl games, winning three of them. The Black Knights have won three national championships (1944, 1945, and 1946), have 37 All-Americans and three Heisman winners; all of these numbers are greater than Navy.

Army is also rivals with Air Force (Army, Air Force and Navy play for the Commander in Chief's Trophy,) Notre Dame and Rutgers. Army has not won/been in a bowl game since 2010.

The Army-Navy game is typically held at a neutral site; in the near future, the game will be played at M&T Bank Stadium or at Lincoln Financial Field. Navy has won twelve straight games in the series, and holds a nine game all time lead. This rivalry has become lopsided, which was a major factor in Army head coach Rich Ellerson being dismisses after the 2013 season. Ellerson led Army to a 20-41 record over 5 years, with one bowl win.

    A New Era

Army dismissed Rich Ellerson rather soon after Ellerson's Black Knights lost their twelfth straight game to their main rival, Navy. The new coach? Jeff Monken, a man who spent a good deal of time on Navy's coaching staff a few years ago. Monken also was a part of Georgia Tech's coaching staff, in which the offensive style ran on a triple-option playbook. Monken plans to use this triple option playbook at Army. Most recently, Monken has been the head coach of the FCS program Georgia Southern, who he led to three FCS semi-finals.Due to Monken's efforts, Georgia Southern is transitioning to the FBS level.

It has been made clear by Army AD Boo Corrigan that Monken is expected to win immediately, a task easier said than done for a team that is coming off a 3-9 campaign. Army has been stuck in mediocrity for several years now, and Monken is expected to right the ship.

You forgot the "1" in my name, but it's all good. Glad to see you picked Army. I did an offline dynasty with them back on NCAA 12, and it was really fun. But hard, cuz Army SUCKED in that game. If you get good, I would just stay independent & play all the Big Boy schools.

My bad, sorry. Thanks for following. Let's face it, Army isn't good right now; teams go 3-9 and get beaten for 12 straight years by their biggest rival for a reason. This will be interesting, to say the least, as typically I run a somewhat traditional offense, whereas Monken's Black Knights will run a triple option. It will be a learning process. I do plan on staying independent, as that is what truly drew me to Army. I don't like to spoil my own stuff, but instead of scheduling games against FCS teams to simulate games against other service academies, I will face some of the hardest teams possible. For 2014, I will face Alabama and I think BYU. Every year, I'll try to throw at least one, probably a minimum of 2 big schools into my schedule. I want to lose, seriously. I want this to be a rebuilding process that takes time, so that the reward is that much sweeter. The same can be said of my upcoming Ravens dynasty.

Thank you for following, I've always loved your dynasties. Ah, a Navy fan, huh? Navy was honestly the runner up for the team that I would do a dynasty with. Yet, Navy will be joining the American conference. I liked Army over Navy because Army will be independent for the foreseeable future.

                          National Signing Day 2014:

The following players have committed to Army:

DE Tim Curry, 6’4, 238 lbs 3 star, Auburn, IN

HB Ricky Bowser, 5’9 183 lbs, 3 star, speed back, Uvalde, Texas

TE Noah White, 6’5, 225, 3 star, Lakeside CA, blocking TE

QB Kevin Brooks 3 star, 6’4, 214, Kernsersville NC, scrambler. (Unless other wise noted, all recruited QBs are scramblers to fit the triple option scheme.)

MLB Jamie Miller, 3 star, 6’3 227, Holdenville OK, coverage LB

Athlete John McCullough, 3 star, 6’1, 228, Watertown WI

OLB Antwan Holley, 3 star, 6’5, 234, Marion, VA, coverage

DE Rick Woods, 3 star, 6’2 254, pass rusher, Stocktown, CA

FS Arnold Pino, 3 star 6’1 197, coverage, Burbank, CA

TE Andre Miranda, 6’6 265, 3 star, Fostroia, OH blocking TE

OLB Matt Allen 6’2 217, 3 star, run stopper, Waterbury, CT

CB Kevin Watson 3 star, 6’0 181, Universal City, Texas, balanced

                          {I'll confess that i didn't strictly follow my recruiting restrictions because I simmed the 2013 season so that I could start this dynasty. I will be more strict with my restrictions from now on.}

Army finished with the 57th ranked recruiting class in the nation. Navy had the 34th best class, Air Force had the 115th best class.

                          Top Ten Recruiting Classes (2014)

                          1. Florida State

                          2. Alabama

                          3. Oklahoma

                          4. Texas

                          5. UCLA

                          6. Ohio State

                          7. Notre Dame

                          8. Arkansas

                          9. Georgia

                          10. Miami

                          Position Changes-

                          Senior QB Cody Jackson to WR-{ The QB corps became crowded, so I converted Jackson to WR for depth after I converted Laird to a TE.}

                          Senior WR Patrick Laird to TE- {Tight end became a weak position after seniors graduated and left the team. The highest ranked TE was a 62 overall. I decided to convert Laird, once of the biggest WRs, to TE, as he's experiecned and wouldn't see playing time at WR.}

                          Freshman ATH John McCullough to MLB. {This was a very tough call, he would have been a 75 overall halfback, a good WR, a 67 overall DE, and was a 69 overall LB and safety. I seriously sat there, flipping back and forth between the positions that I could change him to. Then, I looked at my depth chart. The starting MLB will graduate after this season (he's a senior) so I made McCullough a MLB, hoping he'll start next year. I could always change his position again next year, but for now he'll be the backup MLB this season, to start. McCullough could see snaps at HB because that is his best position.}

Cut Players: TE Noah White (freshman; bust) and OL Eric Glover (over 280 lbs.)

Yet, Navy will be joining the American conference. I liked Army over Navy because Army will be independent for the foreseeable future.

I like the independent route too. More scheduling freedom and I still can't get my head around the Middies going into a conference, and an AQ one at that.
