How to make scoring in the paint more realistic?

Is there a way to make scoring in the paint more realistic?

Basically what I want to do is make floaters/runners, bankshots, post fades and hooks, and those contact finger roll and up-and-under/step-through layups less cheesy and automatic. Alot of those shots in real life depend on positioning and angles release points and stuff like that. Any suggestions is appreciated.

My current for paint related shots and defense is setup is like this.
    Inside 27
    Close 39
    Dunk in Traffic Frequency 65
    Dunk Success 50
    Layup Success 50
    Contact Shot Success 40

    Driving Contact Shot Frequency 100
    Inside Contact Shot Frequency 100
Layup Defense Strength Frequency Takeoff 65
Layup Defense Strength Frequency Release 65

    Over The Back Foul 100
Charging Foul 100 (cant seem to draw charging fouls on offense or defense)
    Blocking Foul 40
    Reach In Foul 85
    Shooting Fouls 85
    Loose Ball Foul 100

Its hard to get it perfect to where you will see total PIP mirros RL most games, but in NBA2k14 its better than it has been in the past due to better defense by the AI and you AI controlled teammates.

Lowering Inside and close shot tendency to 5 i what I do then add to the 3 pt, mid and post shots. I put attack basket to 20-25 and post to 75-80.

Then you want to raise help D to atleast 90. Putting Charge calls at 100 is what I do too, but you will rarely see it called, so you wont get realistic charge calls in this game.

doing the things I said has helped me get most games PIP totals realistic. I will still have games where I give up more than 50% of the pts in the paint, but not to often and there are times IRL where teams to tear it up with PIP some games. I have also held teams to 30 PIP before in a game, and I only play 12 min qtrs, so its possible.

1 thing I think would help is if they made the lane a little smaller in this game or was able to make the court bigger for better spacing. I see a lot of the PIP come from guys barely in the paint when scoring in this game, so if they could do 1 of thise 2 things I think the numbers could get realistic. This year its definitely improved from years past.

OH by the way 1 other thing, is lower ball handling to 40, that way its not quite as easy for them to get in the paint and there is a better chance of stripping the ball that way as well. I have both my ball handling and AI at 40 and Im happy with it. I dont know if passing would effect the PIP much but I do have it lowered at 44 for AI and 46 for me, this way I get realistic TO#'s per game without everyhting always being a steal.

you do not have to touch your sliders. its all in the in game coaching adjustments..

The NBA in general is about getting the highest percentage shot, and that is usually in the paint.

Id say if they are dominating in the paint, adjust your defense to protect the paint, also employ double teams in the paint ( I do this only if the bigs are dominating), also if the opponent is getting alot of penetration, hedge your defense, collapse your d.

dont mess with the sliders too much.

only slider you didnt mention or list is the vertical slider. Id say lower that slider to around 25 to get those floaters etc too be/look a bit more realistic.

limit the opponents fast break points also-I believe that gets added to the PIP totals also.

I hand big success changing the coaching profile of every team, while not changing the sliders at all.
I put midrange at 100, threes between 70 and 100 (depending on team)
and all PitP related sliders at 25.
With this setting I had more success then adjusting the gameplay slider.

Yes you can get the same effect changing every team coaching profile as well. IMO its just easier to adjust tendency sliders rather than go thru each team. I do adjust teams profiles to a degree, to get them to play more like themselves, but then I use my tweaks with the sliders to get my games to play to my liking.

Adjusting 3's and post shots up quite a bit does wonders in gameplay while lowering the inside and close tendency. Whether is the sliders or the coaches profile you can get the same effect, and you can get great gameplay, best its ever been imo. In years past it would take forever to get the right tweaks and even then it was near impossible to get PIP down where they should be consistently, but this year it was pretty easy to get right finally.
