I'd say 12 was worse than 13(12 was probably one of the worst hockey games I've ever played), but 13 wasn't that much better, I haven't played 14 though so can't really say, from what people say, sounds like its probably better than 13, but at same time,that doesn't say that much.

If you're trying to decide between games though,I'd just wait for NHL15 in September.

I think it gets a little better every year. Still has it's flaws, glitch goals, etc. But they usually improve at least somewhat year to year

NHL 12 was the least aggravating. Also had the most legends. It doesn't really matter, it's been the same game for 6 years now with a few touch ups here and there.

Offline, NHL13 was good. Online, the last quality game was NHL11

I remember in 12 the penalties are called minimally....its totally BS. At the get go, 13 was also like that until the first patch/tuner, i cant remember which one. That pissed me off too, why EA did not patch or release tuner during the tenure of 12 to address the penalty issue.

At the beginning of 13, i was having a blast because I can notice that there was a pressure on neutral zone. But after the first patch/tuner...totally gone....another BS. So I did not purchase 14.

I think the one that somehow made me feel that it was a good buy was 09...after that....all are BS.

I find myself consistently skipping a year. I liked 9, 10 wasn't that much different, 11 was good, no difference in 12. I'm currently still with 13, and if history repeats itself, this will be the year I buy the next version.

NHL12 wasn't very good...cheesy arcade skating and huge hits all the time

NHL13 was the first game in the series where the players felt like they were on ice and not running around on a basketball court with Nike's.

NHL14 has an awkward hybrid skating that seems like it keeps the worst skating elements from NHL12 and blends them with the worst skating elements from NHL13.

another thing i'd like to add to the pot is that in 12 goal scoring is way too easy even with good sliders
13 i cant judge because i skipped a year
14- is getting better but boost slots are a nightmare to get in EASHL and LTL and the fact that some of the attribute caps are so low that it makes the online play worthless
