Do you guys use R2 or RS + R2 while playing on-ball defense?

I am getting killed while playing on-ball defense so I went online and did some research. I found out some people suggest using R2, RS + R2, do you guys use them and what do they exactly do?

Don't you mean L2? R2 is just turbo.

Defense 101, stay between your man and the basket. I do tend to press L2 when i'm in front of them, but i'm not sure if it actually does anything. I use RS to contest shots, i only jump for blocks when it's a layup/dunk. I almost never reach.

Online with the lag it's mostly anticipation though, but you'll find that most players are the same and are pretty predictable. You'll get the hang of it eventually.

thanks for your answer, but people always say online use FAST SHUTTLE, which is R2 + L2, does anyone know if it is useful?

I am not the best onball defender, but I believe I am pretty solid there. Fast shuttle does help to me and I use it a lot, but it can get you in trouble.

When playing on ball d when u press L2 for intense d that's to take away space between u and your opponent. Don't just hold L2 the movement ur opponent makes just use the sticks to dance with him. If they get just a lil bit of space then L2, but just tapping it until you recover. ..then its up to u to either keep dancing or go for the steal. Even when u get beat and u switch off to the closes defender and u see any kind of space tap L2 then hands up (right stock) then jump for the block. Intense d is really intense d take away space. ...... notice when u close and u press intense d u get a bump due to space. .. U welcome. ....

Intense Defense is a bunch of defensive fouling and magnetic guarding

I use both. I play point so L2+ RS when the CPU is sitting at the point I can often knock lose a steal or prevent a pass, then move the stick in the direction I anticipate a pass is going to either deflect or intercept it.

Off-Ball I use the quick shuffle when the PG is on the move. Though now that I use Pick Dodger I hardly ever get caught up and even on MyCareer HoF they are hardly ever open and I can help guard the slacking perimeter defenders or a player posting up.

I'll use both when the opponent plays isolation and penetrates at end of the quarters. Using speed (turbo) will help to cutoff the driving lane (not following where the opponent drives). Its a challenge when play against Rose (cpu) as I was burnt a few times and failed to stop him in the closing seconds. If u gave him space he'll pull up. If u stay too close he'll blow past u easily! He is very cheesy too. So dont hesitate to activate double team as the shot clock expires.

You couldn't get away with that bad defense in older 2k games. 2k made guys to dependent on CPU shot contesting to the point where you all would go back to offball if they took away defense assistance.
