    Recruiting on autopilot

I'm really considering starting a new dynasty as an OC with more challenging sliders than what I worked with last time, but the one thing preventing me from doing so is the tedium of recruiting when 1/2 of the players you recruit you will never see play. I just don't have the heart to do it when recruiting is so simple and fun in my current dynasty. The games unfortunately are too easy, but I'd rather leave my old save game to be picked up another date than play on while changing schools.

Can I survive with the AI doing recruiting? Other than not having the ideal players, is there any other big downside? I've heard the AI is actually fairly reasonable at recruiting if let be.

    Re: Recruiting on autopilot

The cpu ai for recruiting is sold but they tend to go after recruits that you would have no chance in getting. The better option is to set up your board and let the cpu spend the points. That way you have control over what is on the board and it eliminates the players the team has no shot in getting because you are so far behind.

      Re: Recruiting on autopilot

I like to do the autopilot thing when I start as an OC/DC. I would set the player types you are looking for (Example: OL=Pass Blocking) or you will get players that don't really fit what you do. I would also look at the page where you can set the need of positions from "low", "medium", or "high" so the AI targets the positions of need. So if you have 1 QB on your roster for the following year I would set the QB need to "high" until you sign 2-3 then set it to low so you don't end up with 5 QB's in you class. I have done almost every time I start as an OC or DC to add challenge. It is real fun when you get players that don't fit you system but have to work them in.
Relax, it's just a video game!

if you set it up right auto pilot works fine, in order to have the CPU use points you have to let them control the board. which means they will add and remove prospects as well.

i know it's easier. The point is to make it harder on myself. it's too easy to land some good 4 and 5 star guys for 1 star teams. I will recruit once i become the head coach, until then i will just coach the games and change depth chart for offense.

It is a failure! I got like 15 recruits for south Alabama and only one was good. I have so many holes it's unreal. One TE and no punter plus 5 lbers, 2 safeties and i am running a 4-2-5... Good luck!
And i am at 56 of 70 players after walk ons. Smh

LOL, failure. Too bad, I was definitely considering doing this as well since it doesn't really make sense that a coordinator controls all of recruiting.

Right, that was my reasoning. I wish there was a way to actually influence the hc to go after a specific player rather then just a specific type. Hey on the plus side they did recruit me a very nice freshman qb. 77 overall, 89 thp and 84 tha, the perfect pocket passer too with 59 speed and acc. Lol awareness could be better but it will continue to go up with time.

                        Re: Recruiting on autopilot

I started to let the CPU recruit for me in my new Dynasty. I know they are a option to set your defense to get a list of players you need. They used to be where you could set your offense. Is that option gone?

No you can tell the cpu what kind of players you want. IE pocket passers or scrambler or balanced at qb. But half the time they grab someone who is garbage or doesn't fit what you asked for. Plus they don't fill the roster...then again, maybe the roster want filled out yet anyways. Hmm, i might have to restart and check the roster to see if i am missing anyone.

I restarted my dynasty and picked the players I wanted on my board and let the AI handle everything else. When I am playing as a coordinator I just can't see spending the time to recruit when half of the players I work on will never even play for me. I'm not gonna agonize over picking up a top corner when that guy is irrelevant to me. Also, part of the fun of playing as a coordinator for me is taking whatever system and mess of players the HC has set up and trying to make it work.

                              Re: Recruiting on autopilot

You can set how important each position is in recruiting for the computer. If you have a ton of QB's, set the importance to low... if you have 5 senior WR's, set the importance to high. Never tried it myself because I recruit, but I assume it would lead to better results.

But in all honesty, why handicap yourself in recruiting by not doing it? Just set some strict guidelines, like you can only recruit one star players. And for the sake of realism most schools have a recruiting coordinator, you could pretend to have that job title as well. One more thing, most coordinators don't recruit only their side of the ball. Look at any recruiting site, they send coaches to certain regions usually or after the top prospects in their state, etc.
