Gameplay Designer Scott O’Gallagher Leaving EA Sports For 2K Sports?

Sources confirmed with Doug Veney (from GoodGameBro) yesterday that Scott O’Gallagher (AKA OG), Gameplay Designer for the NBA Live series is no longer with the team.

Could he be on his way to 2K Sports and the NBA 2K team?

I've reached out to a few members of the 2K Sports team to confirm. Either way, we wish him the best of luck, wherever he might land.

Wow, definitely interesting. To be honest, if he worked on team specific defense last year as well as bouncetek, I don't know how much this really hurts. Bouncetek was/is a good idea, but the team specific defense wasn't really a good showing last year.

Regardless, good luck OG, wherever your journey leads you.

Again ! It let me remind the nba elite!
Hope that thing would not be what I thought !
I can image the similar bouncetek will be in 2k just like the features of live10 in 2k11 !

This is very interesting to me, Happening this LATE in the Cycle. It could mean a couple of things.

          1. NBA Live decided to go in Different direction.

          2. 2k15 NOT turning out like 2k wanted so they Trying to find someone to clean it up.

Either way, Good luck to ALL Involved. Hope it works out for BOTH Companies.

Obviously this has yet to be officially confirmed, but who benefits & who loses? Does OG really carry that much hype or are we missing what's really going on? Can't wait to hear what's really going on

I was going to say, if the Team Specific defense was his contribution, then we really won't be missing too much.

I really don't think this departure will shift Live's focus this year. They seem to have a pretty sound idea now of where they want to take this franchise. With or without him.

I do wish him the best of luck at 2k if that is indeed where he is going.

On the flip side, do the people that swore he could do no wrong and praised his every action now want to not give him credit for anything like what happened with Mike Wang?

Wish him luck in his new gig and look forward to seeing what he brings to the table over there at 2K and how Live moves forward without him.

You'd think that they would have had a no compete clause in their contract.

I get the impression that NBA Live and Madden development teams haven't had a cohesive team with a shared vision for quite some time and that's why the quality of those products has been inconsistent at best. With 2K games I get the feeling that the developers really work well together and are given a lot more freedom to create.

Not sure what he really did but it seemed like he was being phased out anyways since he stopped doing the instructional vids and live streams. I always liked him because of his ties/props to live 10 and seemed very dedicated. Whether you liked his direction or not any visionary in a leadership position needs to stick to their guns. Good luck

I for one have nothing against scott whatsoever. game design isn't easy, I should know; its my major. hopefully this leads to scott being more open-minded. seeing viewpoints from others that may or may not differ from yours can help one think, see more and create more outside of ones own comfort zone.
