Madden NFL 15 Video & Blog - War In The Trenches 2.0

EA Sports has just released another Madden NFL 15 trailer. This one focuses on the War in the Trenches 2.0. Check out some of the new screenshots here and the official blog for more details.

In Madden 15, you’ll deliver on defense with more effective tackling and pass rush tools that put you in control of each play, all from a new perspective.

See your defensive gameplay from an all-new perspective. By pressing left on the D-Pad, you’ll activate the new defensive camera angle, putting you right in the action. To lock on to a specific player using the defensive camera, press right on the D-Pad.

The core of football starts at the line of scrimmage.The addition of War in the Trenches to Madden 25 overhauled the offensive line play by giving offensive linemen the intelligence to work as a team and create an authentic passing pocket.

I love the idea of adding impact features to both offensive and defensive players, would just love to have a working slider to adjust the level of impact these players can have and not be stuck with an over/under powered feature.

Of course I haven't played the game to know what level of impact this new defensive feature will have, I was just making a suggestion on how new features like this should still be controlled by a working slider so individuals/leagues can have the best game experience possible.

Hmm...so if it's tuned right we could see more encroachment penalties on the user's side, but I wonder if the AI players will try to jump the snap and perhaps draw them too?

Really liked that double team at :42.

I think the video was pretty good. I like that you will be able to hide the button that appears above the players head and the cone. Can't wait for more videos.

I liked the video and think this is an improvement over what has been there but two questions.

1). Will the CPU/AI controlled players use all these new moves, especially "steering the Lineman"? Even a laymen like me can see that there are many missing contextual animations to account for everything that happens in the trenches but if the CPU/AI players use these added controls, at least general pass rush has a chance of being better.

2) At what point will Player Sense be fleshed out enough so blockers show awareness of being beat? Maybe it's because there aren't any good "beat" animations for blockers but the fact that as soon as a blocker is beat, they just instantly keep looking ahead/heading forward, with no awareness of a defender just got by them, really stands out, in a bad way.

This has the potential to make playing a DE or DT really fun and would add a ton of positive to the overall game if its implemented properly.

Im happy there is a video explaining what does what. I remember when EA first introduce line moves no one knew what did what until they experimented.

The Chandler Jones rush early on looked very similar to how he plays.

Interesting to see EA use the PS4 controller. I thought they had some sort of partnership deal with Microsoft.

Just watched it again. I really like the steering option. As someone else said, hopefully the CPU also utilizes this

The tackle on pierre thomas looked awful. That's been in the game for what 5 years? Sick of seeing it

This looks good for sure, I found myself only using the SS or MLB on defense the last few years, this could make playing any d-lineman, not just dominant ends, fun. Hope it works as intended.
