Rumor: Are the Raiders returning to Los Angeles?

Rumors are flying again about the Raiders moving from Oakland.
The football team's owners have been in discussions with folks in San Antonio about possibly moving the team there, but the San Francisco Chronicle reports Raider executives are also talking with people in Los Angeles about returning to Southern California.

The Raiders' lease at the Coliseum expired last year. The team signed a one-year extension lasting through this season, but the Chronicle reports Raider owner Mark Davis doesn't seem interested in extending the lease beyond that.

Former Los Angeles Laker basketball star Magic Johnson has joined in the negotiations, according to a CBS Sports report.
And Dallas Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones talked to Davis at a joint team practice in Oxnard on Tuesday. CBS and the Chronicle say Jones would prefer the Raiders move to Los Angeles and not bring the team to his home state of Texas.

There will be a rookie quarterback starting Week 1 after all.

The Oakland Raiders on Monday named second-round pick Derek Carr the starter, not just for week 1 of the regular season, but for the indefinite future. Carr spent all of mini camp and all the practices leading up to the first preseason game behind veteran Matt Schaub.

"A lot of factors that were involved in that. It's not an indictment on Matt Schaub at all," head coach Buddy Ryan said Monday evening. I" think it says more about where we feel Derek Carr is in his progression." We thought it was important to go ahead and name him the starter this early in the preseason to get him comfortable and let him know he's our guy."

This is the first time since the NFL merger in 1970 that the Raiders will be starting a rookie QB
