Cities: Skylines
Let's see how the engine is, glassbox had its faults(too many to name) but it still did manage to create a sense that your city was functioning because of you.
If this game is just eye candy then I'm not interested, Cities XL for example was good to look at but it had nothing under the hood. This looks very promising though, I love how they want to manage the size of the city, I'm in day one.

Re: Cities: Skylines
Looks like they turned Cities in Motion into a full city builder. Cities in Motion was a transport "tycoon" game. Same development company, and Paradox publish it as well.
I own cities in Motion 2, but I haven't really put much time in it.Comment

Re: Cities: Skylines
Looking pretty good. really is looking like what Simcity should have been. I enjoy just about every Paradox published/Developed game I've played, and I'm sure this will be no exception.Comment

Re: Cities: Skylines
I just watched that 35 minute gameplay video and I am absolutly pumped for this game. It has its rough edges but it looks great! When the guy made a district and renamed it, then it showed the regions statistics I just got a big smile. Its the small touches that this game has that just blows me away. Not sure I have to say this but..

Cities: Skylines
That's the starting map, you double the size of your map in the first 10 minutes of gameplay... This game is huge, make no mistake.

Re: Cities: Skylines
Watched the dev diaries last night, spent about 2 hours really looking at the game. Here are my thoughts on some of the features:
The good:
-the engine looks great, just from looking at gameplay it looks like a great sim
-Different zoning option for commercial stores and offices. This is big as a office park doesn't need or want heavy traffic.
-The road tools look very cool, making a realistic highway interchange will be very easy
-mod support, this is a big one. Healthy mod support can make a good game great.
-water behaves like it should. A small touch but very cool.
-Huge map! With mod support it can be up to 100 sq km.
-districts, awesome feature!
-the small stuff: these guys just nail it. I dig micromanaging my cities and they give me the tools to do so
The Bad:
- no terraforming in the city mode
-Small airport that doesn't auto terraform land: airports are generally on very flat land...
-Variety of building not great
-Highways and roads look a little bland
-Path finding for citizens a bit off, looks like it could use some tuning
The Ugly:
-Cities: Skylines has a bad name. It will do them a disservice having a similar name to the steaming pile of poo that is Cities:XXL
This is a day one buy for me. Even if it fails I don't care, they are trying to accomplish something special and that's important to me.My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment
