Why are fatigue and auto-subs SO MUCH better on Play Now?

Let me give you an example. I have Fatigue set at 70 and RB sub in/out at 80/85.

So I play one game on Play Now. Seahawks/Bears. First drive, I have three straight good runs with Lynch. On the fourth play, they sub in Turbin. This is pretty much perfect and realistic.

So I decide to test the settings on CFM. Bills/Dolphins. I purposely run the ball 12 straight times. It takes 6 runs before Jackson is subbed out for his backup. The backup comes in for one play and then Jackson comes back in. Jackson is in for four straight runs before he is subbed out for one more play.

Now the CFM subs arent horrible but keep in mind that I didnt call a pass or call a play where Jackson wasnt on the field (5 WR or 4 and a TE).

This has been an issue for years and its ridiculous that EA hasnt done anything to fix this. All most of us want is realistic carry numbers for backups during a game. They wont give us out of game formation subs that could fix that. They wont allow us to change the CPU's formation subs in game anymore.

We also have to be super careful about tweaking the fatigue sliders because that can lead to disappearing players in the fourth quarter. Its time EA fixed this. Stop adding twitter feeds and and relocation uniforms and fix the stuff that is key to football.

I would even accept if they fixed formation subs so we can lower fatigue, use standard auto-subs, and split carries between backs ourselves.

I made a HB player career, late round pick, fantasy draft. I end up a 3rd string HB on the vikings, I'm cool with this. I haven't played a single snap. Just random PATs and FGs. So obviously the fatigue/CPU is doing something wrong if a 3rd stringer never sees time in pre-season.

Exactly. I dont trust them to program this right so give me the ability to make the changes.

It's disappointing but how do we get them to patch these things? How do programmers at EA Tiburon get an idea of what reasonable things their consumers want fixed. Is it really difficult to program the CPU to divide carries based on position on a depth chart? Or sprint used etc. Give us something that represents a functioning rotation.

Problem is this has been an issue for years.

Subs/fatigue seem to have different "coding" in play now than CFM mode. People have felt sliders do too in certain releases. Weird

I fully expect auto subs and dissappearing players in the 4th to be an issue again.

              I doubt they fixed it.

Oh its confirmed they are still an issue. In the Seahawks game I referenced before, Matt Forte disappeared in the middle of the 4th after 12 carries. I had fatigue at 70 and sub in at 85 so that was probably too high.

                  Thanks for the confirmation.

You know what boils my bottom? I know this was listed last year in the bug thread, on the EA website bug thread, and I tweeted a couple EA guys about it. (they never respond to questions about bugs or criticism on Twitter. I think they are directed not to)

But yet... Here it is again.

FWIW I would manually sub my HB's on offense or my TE's and WR's occasionally. On defense I would manually sub my LE and RE and DT's, and most other positions play 99% of snaps anyways in real life, that way I could keep Auto-Subs at default and still get the subbing I wanted.

What's worse is the disappearing affects CPU teams too. If you set fatigue to anything over 50, OL linemen will disappear from the CPU team as well and it gets worse the higher you go! Set fatigue to 60 or something and play a game and in the 4th check out who still there in the CPU team. You'll be pissed.

That's why I sub manually using the depth chart, once you change fatigue or auto subs from default weird things start to happen in the 4th. I'd bet all the tea in China the same issues occur this year.

It really bothers me, but the Dev Team probably only tests on default. So they don't see this stuff and never will.

I don't expect this to get fixed. I mean heck... It took them 3 years just to get the wind arrow to point the right direction.

My concern is solely the CPU HBs. I have no issue with the other positions because you can set sub in/out to 0/1 for positions like OL, S, CB and FB/TE (positions where subs rarely happen in real life). WRs are in issue sometimes but I feel like backups get their reps in the 3 and 4 wr sets.

If they could just fix this or the CPU, I could make due with using subs for my team.

Exactly. I could find ways to deal with my team.

It was with the CPU teams that the disappearing really bothered me. If I set fatigue high, I would see decent backup HB carries from the CPU teams, but the disappearing would happen. If I set it low, the disappearing stopped, but CPU teams would never use their backups. Even if they were up by a large lead in the later stages of a game.

                      Very frustrating.

                        Please, EA PLEASE!!! *sigh*

We got these powerful consoles now and still have to ask to get something as simple as fatigue and auto-subs fixed. When I read they finally changed the wind direction I was SO sure that they would have cleaned this up also.

Guess this isn't what the youtubers and GCs want from a good Madden game.

For anyone who has played both Madden NFL 25 and Madden NFL 15, is this just the same situation as last year?

Last year, the auto subs feature only worked during exhibition games (online or offline). If you were playing in Connected Franchise (online or offline), the auto subs feature wouldn't work at all inside that mode, regardless of what you had set your sub percentages to. You also had to deal with starters randomly "disappearing" from the game in the second half and never getting subbed back in, even after their energy refilled.

This bug also had a huge impact on the frequency and severity of injuries in Connected Franchise, as players in the orange and red stamina ranges are much more likely to get hurt in Madden.

Unless Tibruon hires a programmer dedicated to fixing this issue, it will go untouched.

It's the same but auto subs worked last year in cfm. Just not as well as exhibition. It's the same way this yr.
