We need a miracle... A Music City Miracle (Titans 15 CCM)

Welcome to my Madden 15 Titans Franchise. For the last couple of days, I've been messing with settings and gameplay to get a feel of the game before I dive in. The plan is to only control my team, but if I feel like things aren't working out well, I'll start controlling the rest.

I'll start with a couple of reserved posts and then get things under way. Enjoy.

          Titans Ownership Officially Announced
          July 25, 2014
Following Bud Adams’ death last year, ownership of the Tennessee Titans was put on the Estate of Bud Adams. This was primarily controlled by Adams’ son-in-law Tommie Smith. Also placed within the ownership was Adams’ two children, Susie Smith (Tommie’s wife) and Amy Adams Hunt. Kenneth S Adams IV was also placed on as a board member. It was announced today however that control would be placed in Adams IV name solely moving forward. Tommie and Susan Smith as well as Amy Adams Hunt will still be within the organization in some regard, but that was not announced at this time.

Adams IV has worked for the Titans organization for eight years on the administrative side of the franchise. It has been said that prior to Bud Adams’ passing, Adams IV was being groomed to become the next controlling owner of the franchise. Following the announcement, questions from the media were handled by Adams IV, key questions and answers from the session can be seen below.

Reporter: Mr. Adams, with this announcement coming so close to the start of the preseason, are you expecting to make any front office changes prior to this season?

Adams IV: At this point, I don’t see any changes coming. I’m fully committed to Ruston Webster as our executive vice president and general manager moving forward. I worked with him to some regard over the last nine months and have a great rapport with him.

Reporter: Mr. Adams, do you have any expectations or thoughts on moving the franchise outside of Nashville in the coming years?

Adams IV: No. At this time, we are committed to bringing a Super Bowl to Nashville. In fact, we have already begun discussions with the city to build and updated stadium going forward. More details on that will be coming out when we have them.

Reporter: Expectations of this team by many believe it to be a rocky season ahead for the Titans. What are your thoughts on those beliefs?

Adams IV: It very well may be a struggle. We have a new coaching staff and a change in defense from a 4-3 to a 3-4. Adapting to things like this will take time. However, I believe we have great young team and we may be able to turn some heads this season.

Adams IV expects to be very hands on with the team, making sure GM Ruston Webster and head coach Ken Whisenhunt have whatever they needs to help the team grow. The year 2014 is a new beginning in Nashville and hopes are high going in.

Titans Agree to Terms With Three Free Agents
            August 1, 2014

Roughly a week before the Titans have their preseason opener against Green Bay, Ruston Webster and the Titans have announced three free agent signings.

Former Chief Brandon Flowers was the first player announced. Flowers was released in June by the Kansas City Chiefs, and although sources expected him to sign with the Chargers, head coach Ken Whisenhunt convinced Flowers to come to Tennessee.

Next was running back LaMichael James. James was initially signed by the Titans and then released during his rookie season. He had show signs of brilliance with Tampa Bay, but was overshadowed by Doug Martin.

Finally, outside linebacker Desmond Bishop was brought in to compete for the starting spot on the right side. Bishop, 30, was released last year by the Vikings. All three players announced one year contracts with Tennessee.

              Spoiler

Following the Titans 21-0 victory over Green Bay, they announced their first round of cuts.

              QB Tyler Wilson
              HB jackie Battle
              TE Beau BrinkleyDT Chigbo Anunoby
              CB Micah Pellerin

It was also announced that due to the injury to Charlie Whitehurst against the Packers [broken ribs] he would be inactive against the Saints in week two. Rookie Zach Mettenberger is expected to start and play the first half, with Jake Locker playing the second half.

Shonn Greene will be inactive in week two as well. Sources within the organization say he is recovering from an injury in practice, but many believe it is due to his performance last week in which he averaged less than 2.5 yards per carry. Rookie Bishop Sankey, Leon Washington, and LaMichael James are all expected to see playing time.

                Locker Named Official Starter
Although both Jake Locker and rookie Zach Mettenberger looked impressive despite the loss to New Orleans, head coach Ken Whisenhunt announced today that Locker will be the official starter for the next two weeks of the preseason and also the first game of the regular season. However, who is backup will be is undetermined. Charlie Whitehurst is set to be back next week against Atlanta and will fight for the backup role. It is expected by many that the Titans will carry three quarterbacks on their roster. Whisenhunt stated that Whitehurst will have ample opportunity to make a case for himself as the number two behind Locker.

                Greene Back in Lineup
Shonn Greene who sat out last week's game will be back in the lineup this week. Greene will be slated as the number two back behind rookie Bishop Sankey and will be given a number of carries in the second half. Greene has struggled this preseason and will be fighting for a starting role with the Titans. Leon Washington will be the third back on the depth chart with LaMichael James unlikely to see much time.

                Rookie Lewan to Start
Titans first round pick, offensive tackle Taylor Lewan is expected to start over veteran Michael Oher for the last two weeks of the preseason. "Lewan has impressed us these last two weeks and we want to see how he performs with the first team offense and against a first team defense." Whisenhunt stated following the announcement.

                Another Round of Cuts
Another week of cuts have gone by and the following players were let go.
                SS Marqueston Huff
                CB Marc Anthony
                LB Mose Fokou
                DE Lavar Edwards
                OT Byron Stingily
WR Marc Mariani - Unfortunate that a fan favorite like Mariani is cut, but the Titans have great depth in the return game and Mariani has struggled as a receiver.

Whitehurst Throws 3 INTs, Still Remains #2
Charlie Whitehurst, in his attempt to regain the back up quarterback position struggled to help his case. Whitehurst threw three interceptions in the second quarter and gave up a sack with eleven seconds remaining on the goal line in which the Titans could of kicked a field goal to tie the game. Zach Mettenberger only played a single drive, looked impressive before leaving the game with chest pains following a 2-yard quarterback keeper touchdown score. He's expected to play next week against Minnesota. Jake Locker looked solid in the first quarter play proving his starting worth.

                  Green Struggles Once Again
Running back Shonn Greene once again struggled to get solid yards all game. Greene finished the game with nine carries for a measly 20 yards. The poor outing of Greene has fans asking to see more of LaMichael James and Leon Washington. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said that all four [including Bishop Sankey] would see a quarter of playing time in the final game with Washington getting the nod to start.

                  Final Round of Cuts
The final round of cuts is scheduled to be announced following the Vikings game.

So, going into the final preseason game which I'm about to play, I genuinely have no idea who I'm going to start at running back. I think it's going to be a rough season for the run game...

                      Preseason Review - Tennessee Titans

                      Final Round of Cuts
The Titans announced their final round of cuts to get their roster to 53 players. First named were receivers Brian Robiskie and Derek Hagan. Both veterans played well in the preseason, but were overshadowed by young Michael Preston to earn the fifth spot on the depth chart. Next was defensive end Al Woods. Woods, 27, came in as the sixth defensive end on the roster and was released. Next was linebacker Patrick Bailey who did not perform as expected through the four games. Fifth was cornerback Tommie Campbell. Campbell and Khalid Wooten both fought hard for the final cornerback spot, but Wooten had an exceptional preseason and was given the spot. Finally the Titans informed running back Shonn Greene that he would be released. Greene was fighting for the starting spot in the backfield for Tennessee and struggled through three games [sitting out one]. He lacked the burst and could not seem to get off tackles. His YPC of 2.5 was the worst of four running backs on the roster.

                      Key Starters Announced
It was already previously stated that Jake Locker would get the starting spot. Zach Mettenberger impressed enough to be placed as the number two. At running back, Leon Washington was announced as the starter with rookie Bishop Sankey the backup and LaMichael James third. Also up for grabs was the starter right tackle spot. Rookie Taylor Lewan did not disappoint these last two weeks and was awarded the spot. Michael Oher will back up both Lewan and Michael Roos. The full depth chart can be seen below [see next post].

                      Adams IV Announces New Stadiums
It had been speculated for weeks that new owner Kenneth Adams IV would look into upgrading the Titans stadium. That being said, it comes as no surprise that Adams IV announced this week that groundbreaking would begin soon across the street from the current stadium for their new one. Details were not complete at this time, but was announced that within the month of September, full details would be released.

                      Record | 2-2
Biggest Surprise | WR Dexter McCluster | 26 Receptions, 530 Yards, 3 TD
Biggest Disappointment | HB Shonn Greene | 24 Carries, 60 Yards

To be honest, he just played better in the preseason. I like Sankey and I think I'll use him down the road, but I just picked the guy that played better in the preseason.

                              Titans Shock Chiefs in Arrowhead
                              September 7 2014

The Tennessee Titans walked into Arrowhead Stadium and stunned the Kansas City Chiefs today with a 26-17 victory. The game was tight throughout with each team answering each other's score through the entire first half. The Titans got on the board first with a Leon Washington four-yard run. Alex Smith and the Chiefs offense would respond, due in part to Jamaal Charles who finished with 115 yards on the ground. Smith would end the drive on a seven-yard strike to Dwayne Bowe, making the game 7-7 at the end of the first quarter.

Smith would get a chance to take the lead following a Jake Locker interception and did not disappoint. Less than a minute after the turnover Smith threw his second score of the game and the Chiefs were up 14-7. Locker would recover and march down the field again with Leon Washington finishing the drive on a two-yard run. The teams would trade field goals making the game 17-all at halftime.

In the second half, the Titans defense stepped up slowing Charles down and causing a total of six sacks of Alex Smith. With just under two minutes remaining in the quarter, Maikon Bonani kicked his second field goal of the game. On the ensuing kick off Cyrus Gray would fumble the ball and Tennessee would recover. Following a three-and-out, Bonani kicked another field goal to give the Titans a slim six point advantage entering the final period. Smith and the Chiefs would cross midfield three times in the final period, but each drive would stall and they would either be forced to punt or turn the ball over on downs. Bonani would add a third field goal with 1:40 left in the game to put the game out of reach for the Chiefs.

Game Ball | LB Akeem Ayers. Ayers finished the game with six tackles and two sacks in the victory.
