WWE 2K15 Could Be Delayed Due To CM Punk Lawsuit.

Since departing from the WWE in January of this year, CM Punk has remained mostly quiet, only showing up for rare appearances at random events. None were WWE-related, sadly. We’d see him at sporting events, but even when WWE was in his backyard of Chicago, Punk was nowhere to be found. The world has awaited a CM Punk appearance or anything WWE related with Punk. Well, we finally got it. Sadly, not in a way we wanted.


CM Punk’s lawyer recently sent a 22-page letter to the WWE Corporate Offices demanding royalties be given to Punk for the use of his name rights. The WWE 2K15 video game was mentioned, as it used Punk’s likeness and name, obviously. The problem that WWE had with this is that they paid Punk for months after his unscheduled absence and refusal to return. WWE felt that things would blow over and wanted to give the former WWE Champion time. However, he was breaching his contract the entire time by doing as he did.

The title of this thread should be changed. For starters, there currently is no lawsuit. Secondly, by the time a lawsuit is actually in place, the game will be out already. Third, WWE can use Punk's likeness for the same reason they can use Goldberg: they own the rights to the character. Regardless, our litigation system is slow and this game will release on time.

False. The WWE doesn't own the rights to the CM Punk name or character. He used that name (and essentially the "gimmick") long before he signed to the WWE. He's one of the rare few that the WWE signed and let him keep his likeness. And Bill Goldberg's real name is Bill Goldberg. Same situation applies.

As for the game potentially being delayed, **** you CM Punk. I was a huge fan but this would be a huge middle finger to your fan base if remotely true. Not that he cares, though.

I think this is all internet speculation right now. There's been no word from 2K that the game could be delayed and it seems to me someone pieced this story together after the Punk drama leaked.

Why would he file one tho it ain't nobody elses fought he just up and quit

Well until either 2k or the WWE come out and say the game is delayed or if there is a lawsuit I shall take this with a grain of salt. However, if this does come to a lawsuit then that may just show Punk's true colors...I mean if walking out doesn't do it for some people.
