Players Disappearing from Free Agency
Anyone notice that in CCM, onlne and offline that many players disappear after the preseason is over. In an online CCM that i'm in, I was trying to sign HB De'Anthony Thomas and a rookie TE that was in free agency before the league advanced to the regular season. I couldn't do it in time, the week advanced as i loaded up the screen. When I went back to free agency after the advance, both players weren't there and they were no where to be found on any teams roster. I even noticed that a lot of other players were gone as well. In my opinion, this is just ridiculous that EA does this. At least keep everyone for the first year and do that for players who are below a certain rating at the end of the offseason but to do that after the preseason is just insane. A lot of the players that disappear are rookies that teams would sign later on once they start to accumulate injuries or make some money as an owner to sign them. I was just really shocked and disappointed when this happened. Now, no one from the league will even be able to use these guys. I was really looking forward to having De'Anthony Thomas on my team. I was already thinking of ways to use him, just to get shot down by EA!Tags: None -

Doesn't appear so. To be fair, though, this is far from a new thing, it's been in for years.

Re: Players Disappearing from Free Agency
Trust me, that was my first thought as well but I checked every roster. I even asked everyone in the league group on the groupme app that we use. No one picked him up. I know its something that's been in the game in the past, but its just disappointing that they would disappear after the first preseason.Comment

Re: Players Disappearing from Free Agency
Yeah, this is a known thing.
It's a holdover from the implementation of franchise on the X360 and PS3 where system RAM was a severely limiting factor in how many players the could be held in memory during game runtime at once. The free agent pulled had to be purged to make way for incoming rookies, be it from an imported draft class from NCAA Football, an EA hand-crafted draft class, or a randomly-generated draft class.
Hopefully this restriction gets removed at some point.Comment

It's older than that. Xbox/PS2 even. I'm tempted to go back to N64 but its been well over a decade since I even saw it.Yeah, this is a known thing.

It seems pretty ridiculous when you consider how many players are in the NHL games. I mean, it is LOADED.Yeah, this is a known thing.

Re: Players Disappearing from Free Agency
Wouldn't be surprised if it went that far back, I believe Franchise mode was introduced in Madden 99 or Madden 2000.
Based on the Breaking Madden series at SBNation it's obvious that there are still some programming relics in the game, such as eight-bit unsigned integers used to track score (creating a max score of 255, the game will not total up any points scored above that number).Comment

Re: Players Disappearing from Free Agency
i found a way to fix this but if its a league u didn't start before u start up the low rated players overall into the 70's....that's what I did because for some reason even when I put no cmp control for cuts the cmp still would cut players after I did cuts. and they keep cutting WR Taylor Gabriel... so I restarted but this time I uped his overall into the 70's and started again and he stayed on my team.
I think its dumb that EA cuts and removes players just because of low overall.Comment

Re: Players Disappearing from Free Agency
Sounds about right, my first Madden was 2001. Not surprised one bit about programming relics, especially given the short dev cycle and the rush to launch on a new console generation. There's just no time to go running that kind of code archaeology, especially since (I suspect) the programmers responsible for coding (and interpreting) such relics are long gone.Wouldn't be surprised if it went that far back, I believe Franchise mode was introduced in Madden 99 or Madden 2000.

Re: Players Disappearing from Free Agency
I've seen the same thing. Cut my #3 QB at the end of preseason then when my started got hurt opening week I went to sign him back and he wasn't in FA or on any other team, just disappeared. Odd thing is he wasn't the lowest rated QB!WHO DAT! | GEAUX TIGERS! | LET'S GO RANGERS!

Re: Players Disappearing from Free Agency
It's a really BS problem IMO. Our league GM accidently advanced twice, taking us from Week 3 of Preseason to Week 1 of the regular season. The CPU auto cut down to 59. Seahawks cut Paul Richardson, and his disappeared immediately, and the Jags cut Allen Hurns, same thing. Kind of bull**** that two rookies with loads of potential get cut, but there are still 50 and 60 overall 27 year olds in there.Comment

Re: Players Disappearing from Free Agency
I understand why their would be a need to remove players from free agency to cut down on the amount of ram being used. But one, this is xbox one, and ram shouldn't be a problem. 2nd, other sports games will have way more amount of players in the game then madden. Lastly, there's no reason to be making players disappear as soon as the preseason is over. It would be understandable if it was at the end of the season or at the end of the 2nd preseason. But to have to do that on the first preseason is ridiculous. EA deserves a big fat C'MON MAN!!!!!!It's a really BS problem IMO. I didn't know anything about this. No wonder I couldn't find Philly Brown.
I looked for him to sign him to the Panthers and couldn't find him even though I know I saw him. I thought I was tripping. The Lord is my shepard.Comment
