Last EA Sports title that I will purchase....

After the Madden 15 debacle and now the laziness being shown in FIFA 15, I have officially bought my last EA sports title. It is ridiculous that career mode as a manager does not offer coach mode where you would only make subs and change tactics real time.

And before any of you talk about Football Manager let me just say that the gameplay and graphics does not support a purchase of that game, so don't even bring it up. There is ZERO reason to have a manager mode when you still have to play the game as a player, not a manager. How can PES get this right and not FIFA? The option should be there and the game feels like a reskin with a couple of additions, which is not good enough.

Just wondering but what is the fun in just doing that kinda coach mode stuff? Like you would pay 60bucks, or 70 in Canada, just to play coach mode? And maybe you should have found out from others on the forum if there was coach mode, not tryna piss you off just saying though.

I'll explain it, no problem. There are a number of players who have played FIFA for years and have gotten tired of playing the game as a player or controlling the full team when playing career mode as a manager.

The fun is doing all the transfers, searching for talent, setting up the team tactics, and seeing it play out on the pitch assuming the role of a manager. The manager controls the strategy, makes adjustments, and WATCHES the match. We already have multiple modes available to play the game controlling players and having a coach/manager mode available for matches, takes away nothing from the game. Hell, it makes it even better given how great the game looks.

I understand how some don't feel the need to have it, but the opinion means nothing if adding such a mode does not take anything away from what is already present. It is an addition, not a subtraction, so it only gives good things. Inexcusable to not have this in career mode as a manager. It makes it pointless to a certain extent since the option is not there. Only limits the game.

That does kind of suck, sorry, man. I know it's no consolation, but the game does play a good CPU v CPU match. I use that for testing sliders actually.

Yeah, it does and that also compounds the problem. Why limit the way we can play the game when offering a manager mode? Why not just have career mode as a player with the option to make manager decisions since we have to always have to control players when playing a match.

They have it in their NHL games, so I don't understand the reasoning behind it. Oh well, it is what it is, so I'll wait for PES 15.

Pretty much the same game being made each year with minor graphical enhancements and lacking the freedom that was present in Madden 12 with regards to franchise mode.

Yeah I know what you mean, In 2K usually there is a point where I just get bored of playing season games, and usually I just do trades, shake my line up and rotation and sim control in the way I want to, and I sim the games and when I make the playoffs those are the games I play. I've been playing FIFA since FIFA 99, but I know what you mean usually well the most so far I've played is 4 seasons in a manager mode then it gets boring cuz I dont wanna play all the games in the season.

But I have to say if I ever sim a game, you do get a choice to do a live sim so the game is happening and u just see the lineup and the score and the time. I'm not sure if you can control substitution and stuff, probably not.

I agree that they should bring some more management elements in their career mode. I'm an FM guy so I usually play that for my management/career mode fix. Having said that, EA did try something like that called FIFA Manager and it was terrible. I'd love to see manager mode spruced up for sure and being able to do FM like things in the mode

The scary part going forward.. at least for me... is how much emphasis EA is placing on Ultimate Team, whether it's Madden, FIFA, etc.

I envision that game modes such as manager mode, franchise mode, etc, will be put on the back-burner in future editions of the game, as developers have realized the insane amounts of money that EA can make from UT, and have decided to use most of their resources on that aspect of the game.

Now, not only does EA make $60 when you purchase one of these games, but they also make a ungodly amounts of money from Ultimate Team. There's another thread on here where people were talking about the amount of money they spend on UT per year, and some people were saying in excess of $100. So EA makes $160 off of one consumer where they would normally only make $60.

Don't get me wrong: I have no problem with people spending their money on whatever it is they want to. Just sucks that EA seems so fixated on UT, while maybe letting other game modes slip.

Agreed. The problem is UT. It has to be the source of the issue. Like any business it will be driven towards what makes the most profit. This is where I disagree with the above - effectively I do have a problem with people who play UT. I wish they would stop. The more and more who play the mode and spend the extra means less DEV time devoted to the modes I play - Online franchise and offline franchise.

Before too long games like FIFA and Madden will be free to DL but there will be no content just as mobile/tablet apps. The content will come later once your credit card details have been verified.

I do believe there could be a element of generational change however and if I am right then there will be no way to turn the ship around.

Well, Fifa was not intended to have that type of manager mode. There are other good games, not just Football manager. I´m not a fan myself, but I understand that its a great genre. But usually Fifa is intended for players not for vitual managers, don´t understand why you should complain about it, sorry.

I know you already mentioned not wanting FM, but seriously, if you have any interest in a manager mode of any kind you need to check that game out ASAP. It is probably the most addicting game in the history of the world and an absolute blast. Don't let the subpar graphics fool you.

For me coach mode in Madden is fun because there are breaks in the action (calling plays, seeing them executed against the CPU and making real use of your players attributes). I don't think for games like Fifa or even NBA I would play the coach modes if they had them because the action is on going and its more like a spectator thing than really seeing the fruits of my labor with correct play calling, etc. Madden has a cause and effect which is why it works in football (american football lol)
