Something odd in my Connected Franchise.
I am just now beginning Season 3 of my Connected Franchise with the Colts. I have noticed something very strange in my Connected Franchise. Some big name QBs overall rating has dropped drastically...Tom Brady, Tony Romo, Philip Rivers, and Drew Brees all have an OVR between 67-72. Has this happened for anyone else? I find it kind of odd since all of those teams made it to play playoffs in my franchise, and put up pretty solid numbers all year.Tags: None -
Re: Something odd in my Connected Franchise.
The worst that I've seen is Eli Manning dropping to 69 after 1 freaking year. Two time Super Bowl winner - two time Super Bowl MVP, and this happens??? This happens in offline CFM. They've made changes to online CFM to fix that.Comment

Re: Something odd in my Connected Franchise.
It's because the simulated stats are messed up, QB's don't get close to their goals and regress rapidly.
I'm in year three and all of the present day starters, aside from rookies, are declining. Most are free agents too. :/Comment

Re: Something odd in my Connected Franchise.
Yeah, it's best to avoid offline CFM for now considering the sim is completely buggered. I had Cutler in free agency with 69 OVR at the beginning of year 3 and Drew Brees (70 OVR) became the backup for Colt McCoy (78 OVR).Comment

Re: Something odd in my Connected Franchise.
See, I really don't have a problem with this. Not every 35+ QB is John Elway or Peyton Manning. I actually like the fact that in year 3 (based on what you just described), guys like Cutler and Brees have regressed to being ineffective. I guess you can blame that on regression implementation or stats, but to me, it's nice to see players not be dominant FOREVER in Madden until they retire. It forces your CFM to evolve, with younger guys taking over.
Now, if guys like Kaep and Wilson and Luck were regressing by year 3, and were backups, then you have a problem.Comment

Re: Something odd in my Connected Franchise.
And that's why there is a problem, because I have seen Luck regress and end up a FA who doesn't get signed in year 3. And I can see some regression from older QBs but for a guy like Brees to go from 90s to high 60s low 70s seems a bit far fetched to me.See, I really don't have a problem with this. Hmmm...are you using the sim stats "fix" by changing schemes under 32 team control?Comment

Re: Something odd in my Connected Franchise.
Oh, I see. Well that's your problem. It takes a bit more work of course, but if you go this route for offline, you will get much better results.
As to 12's question...I remember when I did ran a test sim to see if the sim stats and progression improved, the results were much better. Not perfect of course, but what sim engine is. But here are some results I had (for offline CFM):
Season 2 stats (keep in mind injuries are on):
RGII: 5499 yards, 42 TDs, 20 INT
Romo: 5121 yards, 32 TDs, 14 INT
Rodgers: 5060 yards, 28 TDs, 21 INT
Brees: 5034 yards, 47 TDs, 22 INT
Kaep: 4711 yards, 34 TDs, 11 INT
Dalton: 4657 yards, 35 TD, 21 INT
Alex Smith: 4561 yards, 30 TD, 21 INT
Peyton Manning: 4548 yards, 33 TD, 17 INT
By the start of season 3, I didn't see too many crazy QB changes (I'm controlling all 32 teams technically, but I'm allowing the CPU to do all the signing and releasing). I saw that Sam Bradford, rated 84, started for the Dolphins though. I'll admit that Cam Newton was cut and plays for the Jets (Brock Osweiller, at 84, is now the Panthers starter).
At the start of year 3, Tom Brady regressed to 75, but was still the starter over Garappolo (73).
HOWEVER...RGIII is a 99. Brees is a 92. Russell Wilson a 97. Dalton a 97. Kaep a 99. Luck a 96. Some guys, of course, did indeed regress--like Cutler (78) and EJ Manuel (79). Tannehill is an 87 and Mike Glennon is an 86. Matt Ryan a 84, while Nick Foles a 95.
And lastly, here are some stats at the end of season 3:
Rodgers: 5259 yards, 42 TD, 19 INT
Dalton: 5180 yards, 33 TD, 31 INT
Romo: 5158 yards, 32 TD, 19 INT
Kirk Cousins (Broncos after Manning retired): 4995 yards, 47 TD, 16 INT
Brees: 4898 yards, 36 TD, 27 INT
Bortles: 4797 yards, 36 TD, 27 INT
RGIII: 4745 yards, 37 TD, 14 INT
Ryan: 4657 yards, 19 TD, 27 INT
Rivers: 4602 yards, 20 TD, 32 INT
Wilson: 4523 yards, 36 TD, 20 INT
Cutler: 4335 yards, 29 TD, 20 INT
Brady: 3653 yards, 21 TD, 14 INT
Newton: 3459 yards, 24 TD, 21 INT
So, not perfect but pretty good for a custom fix. And I think it helps the regression and cuts around the league, too.Comment

But what happens when the rookies come in? You can't edit them...Oh, I see. Well that's your problem. It takes a bit more work of course, but if you go this route for offline, you will get much better results.
