    All-Star Sim Or Superstar Sim?

I know online it will be Superstar Sim, but I want your guys opinions on what would be the better option offline against the AI.

I know a lot of people, including the game devs play on Superstar, but I'm just wondering what the most realistic option would be? Iv'e spent most of my 2K playing days on All-Star. I win some, I lose some.

This year, the AI seems much improved based on some of the gameplay videos that have been hitting YouTube. Hopefully Czar comes in the thread to give his .02 as well.

I'm more or less asking a generalized question about which difficulty guys have picked throughout the years, and what gave them the most realistic experience.

Last year for me it was superstar with custom sliders, I don't recall the ones I used but it was someones on here under the slider section. Those worked well for me.

In general, the best difficulty is the one you find most challenging. Start on rookie if you have too. I always suggest sim sliders over the others on all difficulties.

Move up when it's not a challenge.

No one difficulty level or slider set will give everyone the same realistic outcome. That will depend on how you play more than any other factor.

For those that play users, you want to practice and play on the same settings as in that mode. For quick match, that would be superstar, sim I believe.

If you are going to be playing a lot of users in play with friends, ideally you want to practice and play on the hardest level of HOF sim and play all of your friends on that setting.

As far as sliders go, I personally don't adjust them and stick to the sim sliders. I do that because I play a lot of users and want the same feel across all modes - offline and on.

If you are going to adjust them, I'd put in a season if you have time and at the end look at your stats and the cpus and not base changing sliders over a small sample of games. Do it over a large number.

Before I would adjust sliders, I would increase difficulty personally. But that's me.

i like the challenge of hof so that's usually what i play on with my own set of sliders to help counter the cpu attribute boosts. i've tried going down to all star in the past but the cpu never really challenged me enough i found. superstar with the right sliders looks promising this year though. i never trust just putting it on sim settings however, there's still many things i always feel i need to adjust with my own sliders so i'm always playing on custom.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that czar said superstar sim is where they focused on everything and getting that right as far as as realistic and sim as it gets. Probably a safe bet to stay here and tweak sliders this year from the sounds of it.

Yes. I usually try to adjust sliders personally for All-Star because that had the least CPU AI shenanigans.. LOL

So Beluba and I tuned everything to Superstar SIM. So to me it is the most challenging while still being fair.

If you used to play on all-star you may still find a good game there but for me. My offense on all-star creates a game imbalance where I can play poorly and still score my way to a victory.

On superstar, and I always preference this with this is just me, Some of you are better on the sticks than I am, I can't score my way past bad mistakes.

For example in games I play where I am at a rebound deficit ratings wise at the end of the game it clear the extra shots they got as a result of the rebound advantage is the reason I lost that game.

Another thing on superstar is you have to find a way to generate scoring with you bench. I have lost games because my bench couldn't score and it put too much burden on my starting unit.

So that is the big difference that I can see. So maybe start out on all-star and once you see you that your offense can override your mistakes and win you games move up.

Re: All-Star Sim Or Superstar Sim?

Realism is an illusion. I concur with Czar on many facets. Challenge plays a huge part in the fun factor. Everyone plays the game differently. Czar and Beluba specificly designed the sliders based on I would assume Czar's skill level (which is, as we all know, extremely good). In the past though, Czar would adjust his shooting slider increments to 47 (because he was a great shooter), and that skewed base shooting percentage for a "realistic" NBA box score. What Czar does may not work for me or you. I might habe to put my sliders on 42, another person on 38. That is the beauty of sliders ... making what you're typically good at, challenging and vise versa.

I am a scholar of SimNation, always watch Czar's videos - he keeps it real.

                        Czar,

Yes I want to lose because my bench couldn't maintain the lead or score, or I forced some bad shots etc lose realistically. The last game that was about as close to NBA stats out of the box when it came to shooting was 2K11 without cheesing the game on All-Star Sim. So now we have better paint protection, defense, help defense and probably the most realistically tuned difficulty in 2K15.

Re: All-Star Sim Or Superstar Sim?

Czar, my question about this (seeing that in online leagues we don't have the option to adjust the sliders) is superstar sim tweaked to give realistic gameplay in all areas such as....

1- Fouls (most important for us) - will this level give us realistic fouls in paint and with contact?

2- shooting percentages - I'm assuming these are tweaked here for realistic fg% numbers although stamina and was he wide open or contested shots play a huge factor too.

Can you elaborate a little bit on how and why this level will be the most realistic? What was your focus on making it sim as possible? What areas, etc... In years past we have always played league on hall of fame settings for smaller shot release windows to make it harder for the user with too high of shooting percentages with out of box sliders. We wanted to see more misses with open shots and also we tweaked shooting sliders down to achieve this as well. If we set to hall of fame sim to keep these windows tight do we lose some sim aspects? And what if so? Will we see higher foul rate? Lower? Etc...

Anyways just curious on your take and method here as it appears we have to live and die with these settings online this year.

                          Thank you sir!

I'm struggling alot on superstar sim and i run plays etc. Defensively i'm pretty weak.

However, im going to try all star sim and see my results. Ideally, i want for it to be challenging but also enjoyable.

                            We'll see.

I play all star sim on MyCareer. Superstar sim on everything else.

I played one superstar sim game on my career and got blown out by 50 points. Tbf I was coming off the bench so I couldn't do much to stop it. But still...
