    Jumpshot/Layup Take-off/release slider?

I may be rain manning this and putting too much thought into it, but I digest...

Does this mean how tightly guarded user will be during a jump shot/layup or how tightly guarded the cpu will be by the user?

Can anyone clarify what this even means? Let's say I have jump shot takeoff at 100 and release at 0, what exactly is this making the game do? And I'll assume whatever the answer for this is, is also the same for layup? If you have takeoff at 0 and release at 100 then what does that mean exactly? There's zero defense at takeoff but when you release it there's a lot of defense? It just doesn't make sense to me and I've looked it up and evidently no one's as stupid as I seem to be when it comes to this, haha. Thanks for the help OS.

I was always curious of this, along with 5-10 other sliders (example Stamina vs Fatigue) and what exactly they do in game.

It would be super nice if the developers would provide some details on sliders.

this is how I've seen it since 2k13.

if a guy runs straight at you and one of those contact animations play out, takeoff will take effect. if someone drives in and you get a contest from a helping big for example then 'release' would effect the shot. same thing with jumpshots. take off is the gather and release is self explanatory

I posted something about this in the slider form a while back. I asked what ever one was using for these sliders and what people noticed when they decreased them or increased them but no on ever responded to the thread. I noticed the higher the sliders the more contact you have and the less PIP you get. The lower the less contact and more PIP a game you see. When the game first game out I was playing on pro simulation with no slider adjustments other then having taking mid shoots at like 60 and 3's at like 80 and attack basket, close shoots at 40 or 45 for like 7 games and the CPU was getting like 70 PIP a game on average and even had a game with like 80 and I was getting to many a game to.

Once I increased them I noticed more contact and the PIP came down and I even had a few games where the CPU only scored like 35-40 PIP in a game. I noticed at default simulation on pro that both me and the CPU got to the basket to easly for uncontested layups and dunks and once I increased them that it was harder for both me and the CPU to get to the basket for uncontested layups and dunks.

I really would like to get a factual explanation of those sliders
I understand whats posted above but i need facts been looking n tweaking
but cant tell for certain .

one thing i noticed the more i tweak the sliders the more the game dies
the sim sliders are ok besides rebounding and a couple of succes sliders

                Re: Jumpshot/Layup Take-off/release slider?

I always thought that it means how much the shot gets affected by defense, as in how strong the defense is. So for example if you put those sliders at 0, it would mean the shot is not/barely affected by defense and therefore almost always goes in. And ofcourse the other way around if you set the slider high.

Since in 2k the releases are a lot slower and much more space is needed for an open shot compared to reality where it takes little time to take get a shot off, I would set the jumpshot takeoff higher (how much depends on difficulty) and JS release def strenght lower.
