So I've been meaning to get into chising for a while, I had a Detroit Pistons franchise over on the old 2k11 forums on the 2ksports website, so why not do it all again with an almost completely new team? I want to make this as realistic as possible, no absurd trades that other teams would never dream of agreeing to. I want to make realistic trades, and build the Pistons into a contender, even if that means trading my favorite player, Greg Monroe. Hopefully you guys take interest into this, I would love some feedback when I get it going.

Starting Lineup

PG: Brandon Jennings


Brandon Jennings is entering his second year in Detroit, after being dealt in a sign and trade deal that would send him to the Pistons from the Bucks in exchange for Brandon Knight, Khris Middleton, and Viacheslav Kravtsov. Although reaching a career high in assists in his first year in Detroit, his FG and 3P% were .373 and .337 respectively. Jennings also hit a career low in FT%, only hitting them at .751. New coach, Stan Van Gundy plans on helping Jennings boost those numbers significantly, as well as becoming a consistently elite passer.


SG: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope


Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is a second year shooting guard out of The University of Georgia. Pope was selected 8th overall in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. In, his first year in Detroit, Pope shot just under 40% from the field and only averaged 5.9 PPG in 19.8 minutes of play. The team will look to Pope for much of the outside shooting as his minutes are expected to rise due to the lack of pure scorers.


SF: Josh Smith


Josh Smith is an interesting story on this Detroit team. After inking a deal with Detroit in the summer of 2013 for 54 million over 4 years, Josh Smith was transitioned from his natural Power Forward spot to Small Forward. Last year, Smith shot a career low 42% from the field and attempted over 265 shots from downtown, a spot where Smith should not be shooting at all, and only made 70 of them. Smith is still searching for his role on this Pistons squad, hopefully Van Gundy can guide him


PF: Greg Monroe


The four year big man is entering another, and possibly his last, season with the Detroit Pistons. Monroe was selected 7th overall in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Pistons. He is second in longevity on this current Pistons squad, behind Jonas Jerebko, but hasn't really shown a leadership role. This past offseason, Monroe turned down a 5 year 60 million dollar contract extension, as well as a 4 year 54 million dollar extension. The buzz around the locker room is that Greg plans to test free agency and sign with a contender in the coming offseason, with Drummond taking over his natural spot a Center, and the signing of Josh Smith, Monroe leaving Detroit seems like a very real possibility.


C: Andre Drummond



Andre Drummond is the starting center, and future of this team. Drummond was selected 9th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. He's been called a raw version of Dwight Howard by some. Where he lacks offensively he makes up for defensively with utter strength and shot blocking ability. Detroit ran with a Monroe/Drummond front court for a few seasons that faired alright. Where Drummond lacked defensively, Monroe made up for and vice versa, but since signing Josh Smith, there's just no room for the 3 big men to co exist.


Bench

6th man: D.J. Augustin


The Pistons will look to Augustin for scoring off the bench as well as substitution for either Jennings or Caldwell-Pope. Augustin has a knack for the three ball (nicknamed 3J Augustin) and isn't afraid to drive to the hoop and make contact with defenders


7th: Caron Butler


Caron Butler signed a 2 year 9 million dollar deal with Detroit this past offseason. The Pistons look to him for outside shooting that they desperately need and a veteran presence.

8th: Jodie Meeks


Meeks signed a 3 year 19 million dollar deal with Detroit this past offseason. Detroit looks to Meeks for his 3 point shooting.


9th: Kyle Singler


Kyle Singler will come off the bench and has the 9th spot on the roster. The Pistons will count on Singler when guys like Smith or Butler have trouble scoring at the Small Forward position. The team may also use him as a back up Shooting Guard.


10th: Jonas Jerebko


Although he is the longest standing player on this current Pistons squad, Jerebko had yet to prove that he is a dominant force on the team. Sure, he can stretch the floor with 3's, create killer put back dunks and fights for rebounds, but Jerebko hasn't proved that he is starter material.


11th: Spencer Dinwiddie


Dinwiddie was selected 38th overall in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. In his rookie season, Dinwiddie will see limited minutes on the court and will get most of his shooting and training done in practice. With Jennings running the point, Dinwiddie won't be a starting PG anytime soon. But if Jennings decides to part ways down the road, Detroit may look to him to run the floor.


12th: Joel Anthony


Joel Anthony will only see about 4-5 MPG this season, with multiple big men already being experimented with in the front court, Anthony will only be called upon during injury or for garbage time minutes.


Reserve: Cartier Martin


Cartier Martin is taking a reserve role this season which means he will only see playing time due to injury or illness of other players.


Reserve: Luigi Datome


Datome is in the same situation as Martin in that he will only see playing time due to injury or unless his performance increases in practice.

12th: Tony Mitchell


Tony Mitchell will not see the court this season but will spend time in the D-League affiliate Grand Rapids Drive. The only chance he has of being called up this season is if multiple injuries occur.
