Alley oops not counting as assists?
 

Saw this on reddit and made me realize I've definitely noticed this.

Does anyone ever notice alley oops occasionally not registering as assists? Doesn't happen all the time but I've definitely noticed it before, and it appears I'm not alone. Seems like perhaps if a defender gets a finger on the ball (not that it's necessarily noticeable) it can completely negate the assist.

Certainly not the biggest of issues, but wondering how many have noticed this.

Yup, if they do that tip animation it doesn't count as the assist. It's definitely an issue, but not something that I could see 2K fixing unfortunately.

EDIT: Well that took longer than expected, but I threw 10 alley oops and got 10 assists so it doesn't look like it is anything that is overly common, but I swear like 40 of them got swatted the other way...I don't know if I even like that mechanic, I don't think I've ever seen that happen in a real NBA game.
