Re: Tampa 2 Defense
I ran it to perfection with Ohio State as a defensive coordinator.
A bit of background, thanks to great recruiting we had a record setting defense where we would only play two safeties and bring pressure from somewhere else on every play.
So yeah, if you're talented as a team this is one of the best defenses.INACTIVE -

what formations and play types do you use? cover 2, cover 2 man, and cover 2 blitzes only? Take rest of the cover plays out?I ran it to perfection with Ohio State as a defensive coordinator.

Re: Tampa 2 Defense
Cover 2 man mostly, with zones on third and long. Blitzes every first and second down. We used cover 4 on longer then 10 yards.
Just make sure you have a great line and corners or you'll get toasted by the offense.INACTIVEComment

Re: Tampa 2 Defense
Do you use the 4-3 or 4-3 multiple pb? So, take all cover 3 plays out?Comment

Re: Tampa 2 Defense
4-3 multiple, the blitzes are better in that one. I think it's the best playbook in the game, along with the BYU offense.
And yeah, you can take cover 3 out or only use it sparingly when you need to mix up your playcalling.INACTIVEComment

One more question. Do you do the as you do for the 4-3 for the rest of the formations in that playbook? nickle, dime, etc....Comment

Re: Tampa 2 Defense
A true cover 2 zone is begging to get beat deep but is great for stopping some of the QB keepers out of option, sometimes i'll audible the wide corner to a buzz zone when mixing it in and if running it in its purest form I try to spread the safeties wide with the audible and make sure the MLB is DEEP. Cover 2 sink is used a lot more often especially in the red zone. It's much easier to mix in Cover 2 man obviouslyComment

Re: Tampa 2 Defense
Like my fellow pats fan said you need very good lineman who can get to the qb. Just as important though, you need great coverage LBs who you can trust to drop deepComment

Re: Tampa 2 Defense
Hello.
are there any playbooks in NCAA 14 that are a Tampa 2 defense playbook and if so what are they? If a custom playbook is better at accurately creating this defense, what would be the right plays/formations?
I also would like to know what the defensive sliders would be for run/pass and aggressive/conservative for this defense and what would be the in-game defensive adjustments one would use for this defense.Comment
