Honest Question: what is the proper way to contest shots now?

The new patch is killing me on 3 point shooting. I just played a game where my opponent shot 100% in the first quarter, mostly threes.

I ended up winning by a point, but only because he played really poorly on defense.

I do okay on-ball because i just hold LT when they zig zag and then contest manually with the right stick when they shoot the three, but when they pass to another guy, they always seem to have just enough room to get an open look. I tried changing defensive settings on perimeter shoots to "tight" but that seemed to barely help. Even when my cpu controlled defenders contest shots with intense-D enabled, the shots fall at 80% or higher.

I feel like there's something I'm doing wrong because I've heard people saying that they have stopped this kind of stuff.

Be aware of who is open on defense and right when they pass the ball switch while the ball is still in the air and you'll have plenty of time to defend the shot.

^^ This. Also, you want to put it on "deny" in stead of "tight".
