Pitchers stealing bases

Has anyone else seen a pitcher steal a base? I just had it happen to me and I was like, what the? He made it to because I was caught so off guard that I didn't make the throw. I just never thought he would go, so I never even payed any attention to him.

It's never happened to me; probably because I only play as the Blue Jays, but there has been times in interleague play where I'll try to steal with my pitcher. Last time I tried to steal with a pitcher was probably MLB 2K10. It's hard to even get a pitcher on base let alone steal.


Not too many pitchers have a high 'Stealing' rating anyway.

Who was it and what was his speed rating? Also what was the situation, how many outs etc.

There's lots of pitchers that CAN steal, just aren't asked to do it very often.

I'm sure managers don't want any pitcher trying to steal and risk some stupid injury.

There's lots of pitchers that CAN steal, just aren't asked to do it very often.

Yeah, actually Tony Cingrani is 1 of the faster guys on the Reds, and he can steal a base. He actually has before. Leake also runs pretty well, but not sure he has ever stole a base.


If this is a rare occurance its probably fine, but if its something that's more than that then Id say its a problem.




I have noticed players being more aggressive as a whole this year stealing. I always put steal aggressiveness at 10,but it seems fine at default this year.

Ervin Santana is fairly fast if i recall. But he wont be doing anything for a few months.

It could happen in failed hit-and-run situations... I think most questionable steal attempts are due to this.
