YouTube. (Creators, Watchers and all in-between)

Hey everyone. Not posted much in the 2K section of the forum, people seem chill though.

Just wanted to gauge opinion, I couldn't see a similar thread but if there is one please lock this and point me in the right direction so I can bump that instead.

Basically, just wanted to know who does and who doesn't youtube on these forums, doesn't have to be for 2K specifically, me personally, I just started YouTube not long ago and 2K even sooner than that so it is relatively new ground for me. But I think that other content makers, especially guys new to doing it like me could do with a section to support each others work and even unearth new people who may not post here.

Either way, if you do make vids leave a link to your youtube channel page here and I will be sure to sub and watch and what not.

Thanks for reading, stay safe. Stobzilla.

(I'll refrain from posting my channel page for now, don't want it to come across as a shameless plug)

No joke bro, one year ago around the same time I also started my 2K youtube channel. I came to OS too at the beginning to see what type of content people wanted to see. I put out a couple 2k15 videos on May 2014; they got like about 1000 views over three months ? (That's very little obviously, but at that point I was brand new). People on OS saw those vids and they gave me a lot of good critiscism, some even helped me with editing or gave me new ideas for vids.

Fast forward a year, I have about 2300 subs now and 230 000 views (all 2K tips and tutorial content). Also got recognized as a member of #SimNation (this is a huge deal for me lol). You came to the right place man, I feel OS is a great place for creators and watchers to interact; I wouldn't be the video maker I am today without the help of members from OS. So if you have got any 2K video making questions I would be happy to answer ^_^

    Sam Pham

PS: There are also many other great video makers on here; I am sure they will drop in a nice word in here for you too ^_^

Haha, I'm already subbed to you on YT man. I seriously am bad on this game (I started YT to mainly do NHL content but the game was ... eh ... yeah) so I have picked 2K back up and realised I don't know anything about a sport I actually do like. So naturally I subbed to yourself, Czar et al and I am still terrible. That is purely a reflection on me and not your guys' videos though

It is all a process I guess.

This is just gonna turn into an advertising thread. Well it is already that tbh.

I'm sorry you feel that way about it, just trying to pull the like minded of us in one place to see if we can help each other a bit more. Feel free to participate if you want to though man.

Hmmmm not my intention when I replied OP, but I see your concern. I only wanted to let him hear how OS helped me with my video making process from day one. *Man I used to be soooo bad lol ....

I took out the channel links he asked for, hopefully that is enough. I do think a thread like this has its value. The tech is changing, we can all record gameplay at a touch of a button now. So naturally, a lot more people are gonna lean towards to making their own 2K vids for fun. I just want to share my experience in that aspect of 2K with people who's got questions about it. So let's keep this to how to make 2K videos and what's good/bad. That's what OP was asking for anyways right ?

Just wanted to ask how do you get ideas? From OS members asking questions (like SSOL video)? Or just brainstorming?

Was thinking about making a YT channel of my own and even started doing it in december of 2013 and started getting 70-120 views on my first videos but due to me being ******** and ending up in hospital for two months that fell apart.

I don't know if I will ever begin doing Youtube videos but I'm curious about this topic.

Which programs and tools do you use or recommend to use which are relatively easy and make video look relatively professional or well done? And which tutorials would you suggest watching to get the hang of said programs?
Recommendations on how to make a video? Procedure? Dos an don'ts?

Thanks in advance to anyone who participates.

I make the videos I want to see, or I make opposites of videos I hate. I always loved watching 2K tips before I started making them myself, but over the last few years all of the really popular videos were teaching exploitive techniques. I couldn't stand it, so I set out to make SIM videos for the masses. I also enjoy pretending to be Smoove once in awhile with gameplay vids haha

Get back on the horse man, I remember how amazed I was when one of my videos got over 50 views, that amazed me, truly. Send me your link in a pm and I'll sub it up and have a look for myself.

Personally I run everything that is captured via an Elgato card into my desktop, I think Sam Pham captures his via the Playstation then does the edit in ShareFactory (also on the PS), I could be wrong about that though.

I use Sony Vegas and do bits of colour correction and make sure to remove the "ghost" effect that some videos can have. I remember watching a fairly well known COD gamer who did a tutorial on Vegas and different options.

I also use a Blue Yeti Microphone recording via Audacity, BroHaLikesYou has a good basic tutorial on sound editing. I would recommend practicing this part as if you are doing commentaries, you don't want them to sound like crap.

If you do it via capture cards then DO be prepared to play around with video rendering settings, there are a couple of good tutorials to show you how to get those times down though.

I will man, I will. Right after I get new mic. The struggles of being a college student :P I scrapped that YT channel and make a cover for new one. It's all ready to go with Audacity and Vegas Pro and DXTory for recording. Just need that mic. Already have few ideas what to do and what games would I do.

Thanks man. I'd like to do gameplay commentaries with tutorials here and there. But what I hate the most in Smoove's videos is that he did some un-sim stuff like doing a floater that was broken so he could grab his own rebounds on a fast break so he could get trip-dub and getting 50-12-10 every game. He's entertaining but yeah...that was my gripe 'bout him.
