Brave in Philly (MLB 15 Franchise)

Hello one and all welcome to my Philadelphia Phillies franchise. Yes you did indeed read that correctly; I being a Braves fan am doing a Phillies franchise to return them to prominence in MLB.

For this dynasty I have decided to turn off GM Contracts as I intend to stay with the Phillies for the duration of this franchise. I have also downloaded a roster that has the top 150 Prospects, so players like Kris Bryant will be making appearances on other teams. Trades will also be utilized via the trade suggestion feature which hopefully will make them as fair as possible. I will keep a double save of before and after the save, if called out and the trade is deemed unfair I will go to the original save before he trade. However, it must be called out before I simulate the next game as to not mess up things to much. I will halt immediately after a trade for 24 - 48 hours to allow objections.

Spring Training will be entirely simulated. During the regular season I can only play the final game in a series. So a majority of the games will be by simulation. Once we get the playoffs, depending on which round, I will only be allowed to play 1 - 3 games. (Haven't decided yet)

For the next few hours I will be simulating Spring Training and writing previews for the Philadelphia Phillies. Let's get this season going.

    Philadelphia Phillies Team Preview

    Starting Rotation
We don't have a lot of youth in the starting rotation which comes with its positives and negatives. Cole Hamels and Cliff Lee are the top to starters for this Philadelphia squad. Will be looking to both of them to lead this squad this season. At the bottom end of our rotation we have Aaron Harang Chad Billingsley and Kevin Slowley. Not bad players by any means but not guys I expect to help propel this team into the playoffs. Hopefully each can provide a good season for us. We also have a lot of depth at this position that can come in and replace if need be.

    Bullpen
We have a mixture here of relief pitchers and starting pitchers placed in the bullpen. The man reason for this is because of the fact that we are lacking the strength needed for a solid bullpen. Jerome Williams and Jonathan Pettibone are our starting pitchers who will be utilized in the bullpen for the time being. If need be there may be some switching around in our starting rotation, but for now this is good enough. Jake Diekman is our best relief pitcher closely followed by Ken Giles and Justin De Fratus. We will be looking to utilize each of them as much as possible during the regular season. Our last member of the bullpen is Jeanmar Gomez who will probably be utilized sparingly as he is our weakest arm in the pitching department.

    Closer
Obviously Jonathan Papelbon is an important part of this organization. Good pitcher is the closing role, but he is aging quickly on this team with a lack of a "good" replacement anywhere in sight. He'll be a strong point coming out of the pen.

    Catcher
Another department in which we are fielding an older veteran in the main role. Carlos Ruiz will do most of the work behind the plate which gives us some solid contact as well as a good arm. Cameron Rupp will have back - up duties at catcher. Not the best back - up in the world, but he'll do for a team in rebuild mode.

    Infield
Our Second Basement Chase Utley easily standouts on this Philadelphia squad. He'll be the leader in the middle as well as across he field. Ryan Howard still holds onto first and will provide us with a nice amount of power at the plate. Cody Asche at third base is still young and will more than likely still develop over the next few years, for now just getting him ML playing time will help him develop his game. At Shortstop we have Freddy Garcia who is a good young fielder but doesn't have a lot of upside to his game. Not the worst infield to ever wear an MLB uniform, but we will be looking for help at almost every position.

    Outfield
Domonic Brown Ben Revera and Grady Sizemore will be working the outfield for the Philadelphia Phillies squad this upcoming season. Once again not horrible players as each have their own positives and negatives in the game, but right field stands out as an issue at the current time. We will need to improve at some point either this season or next.

    Overall
Perfect team for a rebuild. A lot of aging players that could be used for trades in the future to bring in talented prospects. We also have a lot of average players with very little upside that need to be upgraded. Hopefully this won't be to long of a season.

      Philadelphia Phillies Top Prospects

      1. SS J.P. Crawford, 19 - 73 Overall - B Potential
J.P. is a solid young prospect within the Phillies organization. Coming in with a very good overall score with room to grow in the future. He has a very weak bat at the moment which I hope can improve going into the future. His fielding and speed are about average, but could use some improvement as well. Great prospect with good upside. Still has a couple of years to go, but the clock is winding down toward his debut.
      MLB ETA: 2017

      2. SP Aaron Nova, 21 - 70 Overall - B Potential
The sky is the limit for Aaron with our rotation. He is a much need breathe of fresh air in our starting rotation. He still needs to work on how many home runs he is going to allow in the long run as well as how long he can last in games. He doesn't allow a lot of walks which is always good see in a starting pitcher. Improvement is needed is most areas of his game, but he will get their with development.
MLB ETA: Mid - Late 2016

      3. 3B Maikel Franco, 22 - 68 Overall - B Potential
Maikel has some MLB experience under his belt, but it wasn't very impressive. Lucky for him he still has room and time to develop his game. He has a good bat on him, but he still needs to work on his decision making skills as to when it is a good time to swing. Good fielding at the third base position. Hopefully we will see him in the near future, but only time will tell.
      MLB ETA: Late 2016 - Early 2017

      4. SP Marshall Smallwood, 20, 56 Overall - A Potential
Marshall has the potential to dominate the pro game one day as his upside is massive. His pitch count is off to a good start and can be expected to into high numbers. It's everything else that is very worry some. Doesn't strike out very much and allows to many hits, walks, and home runs. He's got a long way to go, but he will get there.
      MLB ETA: 2018

      5. 1B Oscar Ayala, 18 - 65 Overall - B Potential
Good young prospect who may hit the main stage before any of us are ready. He has good upside in a position within our organization that really needs it. His contact and power are impressive for his youth and we hope to see those numbers continue to sky rocket in the future. Need to improve his fielding at first, he lacks basic glove skills.
MLB ETA: Mid - Late 2017

      6. SS Louie Ferguson, 20 - 60 Overall - A Potential
A lot of people seem to forget we have a another stud at short. J.P. may be the main attraction in our farm system, but Louie is not to far behind. He has a better upside as well. His speed and clutch our top within AAA ball, but his fielding is embarrassing for a shortstop. Contact is good against rights as are his decisions at the plate.
      MLB ETA: 2018

      7. SP Andres Cortez, 22 - 61 Overall - A Potential
Another stud starting rotation within our minor league system. Can last into the longer endings, but may have trouble getting here with the amount of walks and home runs he allows early in the game. Really needs how to learn how to control that fastball as we don't need a Rick Vaughn on our team. Could use help at fielding, but I'm not to concerned about it.
      MLB ETA: Late 2017 - Early 2018

      8. CP Steven Nowak, 20 - 59 Overall - B Potential
Steven is a good young closer in AAA. Good velocity for his youth and he strikes a guy out here or there. Needs to learn to control his pitches. He also needs to work on getting out of pressure situations better. He'll be one for the long term, but he'll be good when we get there.
      MLB ETA: Late 2018

      9. C Mitchel Hoskins, 21 - 53 Overall - B Potential
Power is this kids game and he brings it. Could use some work on his contact and fielding, but he's not bad for the position. He has really good durability and very rarely takes a day off from starting duties. Mitchel is in for the long haul and he wouldn't have it any other way.
MLB ETA: Mid - Late 2017

      10. SP Julio Ayala, 21 - 59 Overall - B Potential
Don't let the tenth place ranking in our farm system foul you this kid is a beast on the mound. His velocity has already maxed out at the top end of the scale. His strikeout rate i also pretty good in the minors. Needs to work on how many walks and hits he allows though.

Get out of my town!!! LOL.
I have to say, it's pretty "Brave" of you(like what I did there:wink to take this project on. We're in transition from what was the best period in the franchise's history and as a lifelong fan of the club its kind of bittersweet to see it finally being dismantled. But, as they say; onward and upward! Question: looking at the prospects, is it safe to assume you're using the stock rosters with some edits, or are you waiting for OSFM? Also, do you plan in playing out every game every pitch or no? Other than that, good luck, I'll be following!

Love what you did there! It's weird being a Brave fan playing as the Phillies, but I like to keep it in the division.

Yeah I've got the stock roster with only a few prospects being edited which kind of sucks, but it's the best there is right now. I figured getting a few of the upper prospects on each team would be better than having none of them. Though for the Phillies I can't complain. Every position that is a problem has a prospect in direct line, except one, but that's an easy fix. So it all works out, at least for the moment.

I definitely won't be playing 162 games, by the end of the season it may only end up being somewhere between 45 - 55 games out of 162. I'm not one hundred percent sure yet I'm still tinkering around the settings trying to find what works. I know in MLB 14 they had a quick counts setting which simulated a few of the pitches which made it slightly more challenging and enjoyable. If it was carried over I will probably start with that, but I'll be tinkering everything as I go.

Man, this will be a challenge for sure. But I'm interested to see how you play this one out. You have a good farm system it looks like, and maybe you could turn some of those veterans into future pieces.

Game Analysis: To say that our bullpen had a rough afternoon would be quite the understatement. They got completely wrecked today. This brings me back around to wondering how long I can afford to wait to up grade the Bullpen. Will be looking out for RP in the coming months to help this team out. On the bright side our hitting was pretty good with a few standout performances especially Nelson coming off the bench and getting two hits was a key part of an outstanding seventh inning that kept us in the game.

Game Analysis: Really rough game as the Phillies were completely shut down out there. The only positive we can take from this game is the fact that the bullpen, for the most part, had a better game today as the starting pitcher was cause for most of the harm. It's going to be a long season if we see any more games like this out there.

Game Analysis: Not my worst game ever, I would have liked to keep the amount of strikeouts I fell victim to in the single digits. The quick counts performed perfect in this game as I found myself in a lot of full count situations as well as 1 - 2 situations. I hate the umpires not being perfect as I lost a few pitches that could have been called correctly by a five year old, but it makes it realistic regardless of how many times I get screwed by it. Also got really lucky as in five of the nine innings I managed to strand runners in scoring position including one bases loaded situation.

Series Analysis: I've seen a lot worse and we are just getting started, but I'd like to see improvement in the next series against Washington. I can not win all the games by myself so I will be looking around for potential upgrades as well, but that won't be until May or June as I need more time to evaluate how this season may be looking in July. We need to improve all aspects of our game as fielding is our strongest attribute at the current time. Looking forward to the next series to see what will happen next.

Game Analysis: Nice hard fought victory for the Phillies. Our fielding continues to be a strong attribute for us, at least compared to other teams that face us (opponents: 4 - Phillies: 2). Still having an issue getting good contact on the ball as we have four hitters with a BA of .125 and under with all of them being starters. Despite the negative of our hitting our pitching game looked good again in this game despite the BS we gave in the ninth.

Game Analysis: Second series in a row where we get completely shut down in a game. Our two hits came from the bench which great......you know.......if our starters could actually get on base for them. Bullpen returned to it's old habits of having a breakdown halfway through the game. Overall not a good game, not even average......lets chalk it up under terrible.

Game Analysis: Pretty good game overall. Quick counts wasn't as hard as last time as there weren't many situations where my back was against the wall. Will be messing with the sliders before my next playable game see if I can't bump it up a little bit for next time. Both home runs were given on circle changes that didn't hit the mark otherwise this would be another shut out. Didn't strike out as much and defiantly helped this team hitting wise.

Series Analysis: We won this series but there are still a lot of issues going forward as hitting and pitching took bit hits in the first two games of the series. LF Brown is standing out as an issue at the current point. He doesn't make good contact with the ball in sim or play. Will be looking to upgrade the position in the near future.

Oh god make it stop. I'm surrounded by Phillies and Braves fans. LGM [emoji12]

Game Analysis: There were a few questionable choices made by the computer in this game. I believe that pulling Lee after six innings for a PH was a mistake as Lee could have gone another inning or to at least. Our relief pitching is staying on par of expectations in the ERA area. Improved hitting in the game, but we couldn't fully capitalize on our base runners.

Game Analysis: Good and exciting game despite losing in the 17th inning. Got a solid six innings of relief pitching out of Pettibone which was great for a relief squad who has messed up a lot so far. Hitting improved in this game for the most part. Now we just need to get some wins to keep moving forward.

Game Analysis: I'm not angry because I lost the game, I'm angry because my entire settings and sliders system somehow altered itself and destroyed my settings and sliders which I had been playing on previously. The fielding and hitting were absolutely horrible in this game, while the pitching was able to recover. I don't know what happened to my settings but I'm not to happy about what and how it happened.

Series Analysis: Lost all three games in this series which I'm not to upset about. I wasn't expecting the playoffs this year as it was. The trade picture for the Phillies is becoming more and more clear the more games we play. May be looking to make a trade in late April or early May. I'm going to let my block players play a little longer before acquiring other assets for them.
